Churchie....Any good news from across the pond?
Read the thread earlier but have forgotten it all.
It's been a busy day chez Haribo so I haven't had time to post. Just the usual weekend stuff but between recycling, washing, shopping and cleaning there's been no time for MSE.
We've just finished tea which was a yummy seafood chowder and HM garlic butter pinwheels and apple pie.
About to persuade the girls to have an early night and then we'll open the vino.
(what's the odds that Aussie finds that last sentence irrisistable to mess with?)
Haribo x
Ps.... Hope today went ok Ruby. x

Hi All
Happy St David's Day to all fellow Welsh folk. For the first year for ages we actually have daffodils in full bloom in the garden!
Night away at my brothers last night - good to see him. He's clearly missing Mum as I am tho' - he must do, having visited her every day since her stroke in September until she died at the end of January.
Delighted to find card from DS in box when we got home - thought he might have forgotten this year! Will be good and not open it until tomorrow tho'.
Must try to do a bit of OS housework tomorrow - place looks like a bomb has hit it again.
Smoky - just thinking and praying for you, and hoping that things improve soon.
((HUGS)) to all who need one today.Resolution:

Ladies can I have a bit of advice please?

I've been after a patchwork throw for my bedroom as it's all white and I want to inject a bit of colour on the bed but I love my white bedlinen.
All the throws I have seen are extortionate so I want to make my own.
Is this feasable for a very novice sewer?
Pink you are not allowed to answer cos you'll just tell me to wise up.

Yes, as long as you keep it simple, I'd have thought so. By which I mean simple shapes. I assume you're going to machine sew it, not do English patchwork by hand:rotfl:
I too, love my all-white 100% cotton bedlinen, but have been thinking of late that it could do with a bit of colour to lift it. In a hotel we stayed at, they had all white duvet cover etc, but just laid a *runner* across the bed with matching cushions. It looked really nice, but I didn't copy it for fear of looking *hotely*:oYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

Why not try something you can make quite simply from strips, there is a pattrned called nine patch, which is 9 patches as it says but you make them from strips.
There is a video programme on the net called quilters TV, you can watch videos of some of the top US quilters there. Eleanor Burns is the lady I saw in Paducah in 2003 making a nine patch which gave you a positive and negative 9 patch block, use a plain background and you can then use what ever colours you like, I have picture of one I made, will see if I can find it and post it for you, you will need quite a bit of the background but just a 9" square of a coloured fabric and you will get 2 blocks from that....the other thing you could do is one called Irish chain, which again is a nine patch but has plain squares inbetween, not quite so busy as the other one. I will post the photos when I find them.

Copy and past these into your browser the pictures should be there (I hope) Forget that the piccys are here......if you double click on the picture it should bring it up bigger.............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

I only have a tiny wee silly sewing machine.
I am looking at ready cut fabric on ebay which I should be able to stitch together easily enough.
Ta Churchie. :T
We should rename this Churchie's quick questions on sewing and knitting thread.

Evening all
Glad to say my bathroom is smelling less of wee, vodka has made quite a difference, thanks to whoever posted that tip, think it was Miolierre.
MINIBUDGETGIRL welcome.
Have had a pleasant day, took DS swimming and then met up with my best friend at the pool for a long chat whilst Ds played. She reminded me of a quilt I made for her DD when she was born, I had forgotten all about it. Her DD is 16 and she still sleeps with it at the end of her bed.
Went to pizza Hut for tea, really felt we both needed a treat.
Am shattered now. Will go to bed when OH goes to work in a minute.
Have a good night all.

Hi Czarina
I did know you had stayed in the area. I thought it was Port Seton which is nearer to me. (Great fish shops at the harbour for fresh fish for tea.).
