OS Daily 29th February 2008 (leap year day)

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28thFebruary 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Well.....good morning campers.............so much excitement yesterday I cannot sleep................

I suddenly thought I had not entered the payment for my credit card, had to come and find out, and the site has locked me out......gggggggrrrrrrr, however I was able to get onto the bank site and the payment is set up ready to go....phew............

The other thing that kept me awake, I was trying to remember the names of the 4 sisters in Little Women.....don't ask me why, I have not the faintest idea, unless it was because OH and I were talking about the visit we made to Manchester HN to Paul Reviers house, Lousia May Alcott lived in the house just across the street.........anyway I think the girls were Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth...........now I can't remember the names of the Bennett sisters....Elizabeth, ? Lydia and ????

I am going to watch a couple of quilting programmes and then have another shot at slaeeping.

I am not sure if I have come into contact with something I am allergic to, but I have been sneezing like mad and my nose is blocked, hey ho.......see you all later...............
Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Morning CSARINA - you got the Little Women right and the Bennett sisters were Jane, Lydia, Mary and Kitty. In fact, I'm going to look for a copy of Little Women - I read it years ago and, now that you've mentioned it, I would like to read it again!

I had a restless night's sleep and kept having to get up to blow my nose so, like you CSARINA, I may have been near to something I'm allergic to. I bought the Co-op's own soap powder last week and the clean sheets I put on yesterday had been washed in it, so it may be that. I only bought it because they didn't have the big size in my usual powder and the smallest size was mega-expensive! Will see what happens tonight! Mindy you, the one glass of beer I had last night might not have helped. It gave me indigestion and a nauseous feeling - must check the sell-by date on the bottle!

Well, on my to-do list is to look out and post the knitting pattern for the little teddy (the 'holiday' bear) when I can find it, so will do that a bit later this morning.

(((Hugs))) to SMOKY, REDRUBY and all who need them.

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

I'm going to make a another cuppa! See you later.

    Morning Everyone

My last full day out in Spain today, and I do not want to come back, especially to the weather forecast for this weekend. I am trying to list what I will gain back home, and so far I have come up with, stable Broadband Connection, the meet in Sheffield, seeing a neice and nephew partners and kids, seeing Goddaughters new baby girl and a birthday party for our caravan group on the evening we get back. Together with going off on holiday in the 'van to France/Belgium and Holland early April, not at awful lot is it? Be back in May though, that'll keep me going. I feel awful whinging like this but it is how I feel atm, usually am OK again once I get back.

Csarina - £40 for one in Maplins, http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=217918&C=Maplin&U=SearchTop&T=hard%20drives&doy=29m2 for £39.99 80gb but it is suitable for taking away with you as it uses power from the computer, 500gb for £74.99 is theoretically a much better buy. Alternatively you could just buy an HD enclosure http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=221180&doy=29m2 and take the HD out of the out laptop and put it into the enclosure and use it as an ext. HD for your new one. Once you have copied what you want to keep to your new laptop, then wipe it clean and copy back what you want to backup, I've just done this using an existing ext HD case and swopping the HD, but take heart with the DVD's you've done you have a permanent backup for the future. It's just keeping it all up to date. NB this is for a 2.5" laptop HD, if it is out of a desktop it will probably be a 3.5" one.

(((((hugs))))) Smoky hoping your next update will bring some positive news, and all others in need. Hi everyone else.

Must go and sort some paperwork out for either filing here or bringing back home. Must get a shredder for here.

    Take care. DG

Not a bad nights sleep apart from psychocat waking me up at 04.50 because he wanted to go out  . Usually I make sure he's out at night as he's such a pest, he has a cat kennel out there and is quite happy.

HUGS to anyone who wants one and SMOKEY thinking of you.

Need to look through the fridge today as there is loads of stuff in there. Will see if I can salvage some of it but there's not a lot of room in our freezer.

Apart from that I have an essay to start, so shall be studying most of the day, oh joy. Might stay up tonight as OH will be at work and crack on, either that or it's the usual 4am start which I don't fancy at the minute.

    Have a good day all

Looks cold outside, but not frosty, but has anyone seen the weather forecast for next week - snow

DH had a bit of excitement yesterday, he was in Manchester, and a traffic cop stopped him while the Queen went past in her car. He was only about 10 feet away.

Nipping into Aldi later, and making SW chips and egg for tea. I have tried some weird concoctions this week and DH has eaten them, but he wasn't very keen - it's alright for him, he still weighs the same as he did 30 years ago

Good luck to any ladies who are going to pop the question x Oooh just noticed that Ageanjo might have a go - good luck if you do and let us know what he says

I went to bed very early last night, not because I was tired, but because Katy was chatting to her friends in London & from the volume I'd guess she wasn't using a phone! I went upstairs & read The Red Dahlia'. At 9:30 Katy sent me a text message to say she was going out. I got up at just after 5 & she hadn't come home, I was just wondering at what point I should report her missing when she sent another text saying she wasn't coming to work today, boy are they going to be happy at work, it will be a case of 'Please don't shoot the messenger' when I tell them, and I don't even know why she's not coming in.
    Have good day all.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

I'm having a row with myself. I have the second interview for the job I went for this morning. The only thing is, I'm not convinced I want it. It's so different to what I currently do. I'm used to having such a variety in a my job, I'm not sure I can only write about one sector. Plus the journey is a long way and would cost me around £100 in petrol a week:eek: True I'd get a pay rise, but I'd still be getting up at stupid o'clock and I'd be spending around 2-3 hours a day travelling to and from work. Yes I want to get out of where I am, but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot. I will go to the interview - which is going to last 3-4 hours and see how I feel. Others seem to think I'll know whether or not I want it for sure after spending some time there. This is horrible not being sure if something's right for me.

Had a lovely cod dinner last night, not sure what I'll have tonight, if I have anything as I won't get back from the interview until late.

    Hope everyone's ok
