Thank goodness there are some supermarkets with sense out there.

    Yours

i used to work for a well known supermarket, we were taught how to prevent theft from tills and the store but we weren't security staff and if a situation like the one in the op happened to raise alarms and not put ourselves in danger.

if that manager is on £6-odd an hour and working a 60 hour week i would suggest a move elsewhere
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

N9eav-I am a bit surprised at some of your postings-isnt this stuff confidential? and isnt a police Officer supposed to "protect life and property, without fear or favour"? A large Asda store probably could easily justify this cost, while, i presume a much smaller store could find it difficult to get head Office to agree.I am not taking sides,I do think Lidl have many shortcomings though.

Yep. All I am trying to say is, the Police will never be able to do everything expected of them. So we all have a role to play in helping provide security for our own stuff and Businesses their stuff.

How does you identifying a store, and posting that it doesnt have CCTV help to protect their security?

Anyone with a brain knows that any store with CCTV has to display a notice stating that it is operation to comply with the law. No sign, No CCTV.
Anyway if someone wants to knock off a LIDL they will do that regardless. You just need to put a stocking over you head......:rotfl:

  • Most Aldi and Lidl stores display CCTV signs IIRC

If someone wants to knock off anywhere they will do it regardless
