I hate the fact that LIDL make it virtually impossible to get out the store without buying anything. My local one usually only has one till open so the only way to get out without buying something is to ask all the people in the queue to back up! The stock is hilarious though. My local store is in a very poor area of London and they have hoof picks and hoof oil for sale! The only horse I've seen in the area had a policeman sitting on it!
Yes they did - but eventually they backed down and let her shop there again - would you want to?
In Local Govt. years ago rates clerks and rent collectors had to make good any shortfall if they didn't balance. However they couldn't keep any excesses if there were any.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Its the same where I use to work, we had to do our own 'pick up' (send any money over £70 up the shute to the office), if we hadn't done one and the till i was on was robbed then we would be held for the money.
Its silly as in another supermarket, its the managers that did the pick up.I remember when this was just a little website! :money:0 -
I've seen ads for managers at LIDL and the pay is good for such a small shop but they do have to do a lot of work (I believe more or less everything in the store). Our local LIDL had an armed robbery not so long ago - seems hardly fair to hold the manager responsible.
It's that sort of thing that gets people killed - I'm not handing over the cash as it'll cost me.0 -
Do you know I always thought the money in tills was insured. Looks like I was wrong.
Does the same apply in respect to a bank being robbed. Is the money insured, I have read in the US that it is.

They are on a good salary!! They give out pay rises like toilet paper, the minimum store manager wage is £23000. But they have you working for 65+ hours a week (contracted to a minimum of 50), so its exhausting.

If they work 65 hours a week that's just about £6.80 an hour, not my idea of a really good salary I'm afraid.0

True - but £23 is the starting salary, pay rises come quickly, the average is on about 35. But Im saying no more. I used to work there, so I know its a nightmare. It takes a special kind of person (one who has no friends, no spare time, and probably isnt married) Never again!

Was she actually proven to not be in on the theft? Seems a bit strange to me but that what comes of having a police officr for a partner :eek:0 -

Aldi managers are on approx. £32k per annum plus bonus. Assistant Managers at Aldi are on £26k or so a year (with bonus). Lidl is about the same, I think. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.
