Re money in the till, dont they have an extra bolt that you are supposed to put on if the till is unattended.Makes getting it open harder.

erm no they dont.. you just close the drawer check your till is set to break and walk away
  • i used to manage the kings lynn branch. lidl is the worst company i ever worked for thats for sure! staff turn over is high! security is low (i recall several times chases shop lifters across the car park! health and safety is virtually non existant rotation of stock i found only seem to happen when i did it myself! and well to leave a girl on her own at gone 11 at night to cash up and lock up just stupid if you ask me!

the chcek out staff are suppose to make sure the bulk of the notes get put into the box beside the till so really there shouldnt have been that much money in the till stolen unless of course they managed to get the box with the notes in it off too!

I would never want to work,or allow any of my family to work in a situation where they were the only person on the shopfloor,or on the premesis.I dont think any job is worth this risk, even if they do pay relatively high rates of pay to staff, compared to other retailers.

Yeah I had a friend who used to work for Lidl. Basically I never saw them for a couple of years until they left. Lidl don't exactly cover themselves in glory do they??

no assistant manager i was the assistant manager until the manager quit.
it didnt happen all the time but went on for about a month or so in fact it was in my last few months so when i left they had neither manager or assistnat manager and just before i left the area manager quit too left htem in the poo really but if you treat staff poorly then what can they expect!

  • I used to shop at Lidl but now I only shop in Aldi.
Aldi is clean, well stocked and has friendly staff. They accept returns and that you are honest and decent.

Lidl - is the opposite - Dirty, empty shelves, poor stock rotation and sell by dates and have no staff!!

The final straw came when the Manager in their Perth Branch accused me of being a 'liar'...a 'cheat'....trying to de-fraud 'him'...etc..... All because I took back a faulty Bluetooth ear piece a week after the offer had been on and to a different store! This despite the fact that I had the receipt and all the original packaging!

He managed to reduce my two kids to tears and I even had customers coming to 'my defence' (which I didn't need- but it was still appreciated).
He ended up swearing at ALL the customers in the shop...switched the lights off....locked all the doors...after storming off leaving customers and staff still in the (now locked shop)....TOTALLY UNREAL....

The staff said he was a Bully, but what could they do? He was 'just having a bad day...and that 'returns came off the shop profits'.
Only when I started to phone the police to report him for 'assault' and 'for imprisoning us' did he back down......

He apologised...then started to beg me not to report him...he had never had any training...he had 2 kids to feed...and he didn't have a work permit for this country! He was petrified of the Police.....

I do a lot of interviewing, I manage a large number people, I know a lot about health & safety and employment law........the list of 'errors' on his and Lidls behalf was endless and quite frankly a total disgrace.

I wrote to Lidl several times...they never replied..but I later got my refund...but never got an apology...I later heard that the manager had 'disappeared suddenly'...

SO THATS WHY I WILL NEVER EVER SHOP IN LIDL AGAIN!

You get what you pay for !
I sell to Lidl alot of Fruit & Veg and they pay rock bottom prices but not fussed on Quality as much as they should be.
Because of the low level of quality on some products in store they attract a group of customers looking for a real bargain, our local store has something like a 90% overseas customer base and some of the older generation of British customers get annoyed at having to wait in lengthy queues as there is at most 3 staff per store to cover 12-14 hour shifts, if you are not prepared to wait then shop else where. same old sadly 'You get what you pay for'
