here is a letter I have sent, it covers all my issues!
I purchased a Renault Megane 1.5 diesel from your hull Renault Branch at the start of August, upon speaking to your sales adviser, the first thing I stated was that the car was purely for commuting between Hull and York which is why I had chosen yourselves so that I could be confident that I could purchase a car with no issues that would be reliable and in good condition, how wrong I was! I initially spoke to a young lad on the phone (Dave) and arranged to go and look at the car, when I got there I found he was busy and a polish gentleman stood in, well the only thing this guy was missing was a horse and a ten gallon hat! having managed in a high pressure sales environment before its not hard to pick out a wide boy and you definitely have one there! he spent most of the time bragging about his sales figures, asked if we could good out for a fag (I don't spoke by the way!) again I explained to the gentleman that I needed a reliable car that wouldn't require any expenditure and was ready to drive away and happily serve my purpose of commuting to York and back. On the test drive (round the car park!) a fault came on for the injector he said "don't worry it's just because its been sat" (another blatant lie!) I asked for some background in terms of the service history of the car, he explained it had no service book or log book (to which I still haven't received either!) however, it had just had quite a bit of work done, all the brakes had just been done front and back and 2 new tyres, obviously I had to take his word for it regarding the brakes but could see the tyres had been done. I asked him about the Cam belt as I had done my research and knew these were recommended to be done every 70,00 or 5 years, he said without the service book he would have to go and check, then when closing the deal he said that the service engineer had said it looked pretty new so must have been done at 70,000 (again another blatant lie!) I did ask whether it had been thoroughly checked and he assured me it wouldn't be a problem, the reason I was keen to find out is because I know they can be very expensive to replace. At this point I had a bit of a niggling doubt but the car was perfect for what I needed.
It then came to a week later when I came to collect the car, at this point Dave finished up the sale, and he said it also comes with a months warranty, well again your cowboy polish chap had promised me a 3 month warranty so Dave had to go and clear it with his manager which in his defense he did, I then again asked Dave about the Cam belt which again he explained there was no service book so he would go and check with the engineer who checked the car, again he cam back with the answer it looked as though it had been done recently! I then paid the rest of the not insignificant sum of money and set off for home in York, I got about have way when the injector light came on again and wouldn't go off, well it would if I didn't do more than 30 miles an hour! I rang the dealership after I had crawled all the way to York and explained what had happened at which point they said well just bring it back then, I explained the car wasn't drivable safely and I would not risk driving it back to Hull and could I drop it into the York dealership for them to carry out the work which after a lot of bouncing backwards and forward was agreed. At this point the alarm bells were starting to ring, but I just thought must be a one off and silly of me not to challenge your cowboy sales person! I would also like to add that during the carrying out of the repair in York that dealership was excellent in its help and service and has been to this day.
Last week my indicator on my passenger side went so I assumed it wouldn't be covered under any kind of warranty so I rang the hull dealership again, I spoke to a lady in servicing who said she would do it at absolute rock bottom price of £25 for me, I explained I had moved to Hull but was working in york, would it be possible for her to ask the York dealership to honour the (special!) price she refused and said they would only do that price in Hull, I would have to negotiate with the York dealership. I rang them and spoke to a gentleman called Kyle, I explained my situation, only had it a few months, bought in hull etc, and he said not a problem Mr Riley we will do it for £15 all in! so much for Hull's special price!!! on Tuesday of this week I was due to drop my car in to the dealership in York but could not leave my branch, I rang Kyle and asked could I re-schedule, he said don't worry I'll send someone over to collect it as long as you pick it up (good customer service, take note) he called me later that afternoon and said he had done it however during routine inspection had found a few concerns.. the cam-belt had never been change, and the front breaks were half worn and also the clutch was very heavy and indication that it could go (picture my response!) I told him I would collect it after work and would contact the hull dealership, easier said than done, I spoke to a woman on your switch board who could have tried harder to deter me from speaking to someone bit after I refused to be called back i was contacted by Paul Wilkinson, I explained the situation and what had been explained by the york dealership, his response "they are just blagging you so they can get repair work out of you" I was stunned! I have and still do manage in multi national companies and for a so called manager to start of by slagging off one of your dealerships was unbelievable. I then said I was not willing to pay for the work to be done on the car as other than the clutch they were the 2 major things I had asked about when purchasing the car, he said well you'll have to bring it to Hull for us to get a second opinion as I don't trust the York branch, again unbelievable! I explained that due to stock take across the business I was having to work Monday to Saturday for the coming few weeks and wouldn't be able to get it there and I was very concerned about either the cam-belt or the clutch going he said that wasn't his problem and to be honest the guy clearly had no idea what he was talking about and really didn't even want to be having the conversation.
It will be interesting to see what response I get!!0 -
A bit tricky to read all that, Riley, with a lack of paragraphs. I hope you get a successful outcome.0

I know you're a newbie and am not trying to have a go but I would recommend you use some paragraph breaks as this long post is really hard on the eyes - just a suggestion in case you use this style in your complaint letters as well.
To be honest, I gave up and didn't read beyond the first few lines.
Good luck with your complaint.:hello:0 -
Went in to EH at Bury for information on a Motabilty Ford.
No sit down, just here are the brochures and a price list, no offer of a test drive or any other explanations.
Only me in and 5 or 6 salesmen in a group having a laugh, so its not as though they were busy.
I felt so sorry that I was interupting them that I left cap in hand.
Later found out that the brochure given was of the 'old' Mondeo that couldn't be supplied - so wasted some more time.
Well done EH Bury, Ford and surprisingly Motabilty (for offering cars on a 6 day old list that couldn't be supplied).0 -
"....however, it had just had quite a bit of work done, all the brakes had just been done front and back and 2 new tyres, obviously I had to take his word for it regarding the brakes....."
I hope you'll forgive me, but as a girl (whom garages try to scam, thankfully not local garage who are gr8) I wouldn't take anyone's word that the brakes had been done. And I wouldn't trust any car dealers as far as I could throw them. They are known as "stealers" for a good reason.
I own a Vauxhall (not bought from a dealer) and when I first had it I stupidly took it into the local dealers for a minor fault and they told me that the power steering was leaking and it would cost silly money to replace. I legged it out of there as fast as possible and OH fixed the fault (thank you, RAF) and confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the power steering.
Btw, you can easily see if the brake pads or disks have been changed if you know what you're looking for. OH showed me and if I can do it, anyone canHope you get this sorted soon.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Hi all,
I bought my car approix 6 month ago and had nothing but issues with it. It is a volvo s40 which I bought from Durham.
During the first week of having the car we dsicoverd a wire hanging down from under the fuse box in the passenger foot well and they no idea what its for.
next issue within 1 month we had to change the wiper blades at a cost of £30.
next issue within 3 month we had to purchase 2 new front tyres at a cost of £120 as the wheel alignment was out.
next issue the car was not even serviced and when we asked about this they said they service them if they have only 3000 miles left to go, the car had 5000 miles to go.
Strange this was a big major service they had to do yet they missed it. but they did assure me they changed the oil and checked the car fully (mmm wheel alignment comes under that) so yet again a bill of £140 which we have not had done despite arguing with the manager who offerd a free valet what the f***
The manager also assuared me all cars are checked and they have recordings of this, think I will get a copy.
Despite being made to think this car was great fantatsic I get a letter today saying the MOT is due what the F***
Total cost of my car was £9000 cash.
I have never been to a grage and bought car that has not had its full service done and a full years MOT yet they sliped this past me with their mumbo jumbo.
Wehn I got the books I found a peace of paper lodged in the radio manuel the car had a severe dent in and this was noticed by jaguar before this car was moved to even halshaw. Yet I questioned this and they said they fixed it them self's and it was a small dent. why was I not told despite asking?
They seriously have some bad issues with their selling skills and mechanics.
1 last thing if you pay for a check of the car make sure u get a copy as they make u pay for the cost of checking its history of £50 and u dont get a copy. I requested a copy and tells me no more than a simple txt at cost of £1.50 to one of these companys that gives you info on the car. Nothing about accidents though surealy it should state no accidents recorderd.
Does any one have any ideas what I can do ?
Thanks for help in advance:A0 -
£50?!
well done i was ripped off for £100 for the check!
when this was pointed out the sales guy said 'yeh, I know, its admin costs!'
within 6 months you have the right to reject the car, after 6 months i think you have to prove the problems were there when you bought it.0 -
Hi Peeps,
I purchased a 'runabout' Grand Suzuki Vitara '52' plate from EH back end of May this year.
At first opportunity (7days later) we took it to a suitable location to test the 4x4. The noise & drive was so bad it allerted 2 Rangers!!
My other half & the 2 Rangers were underneath the vehicle but couldnt find anything wrong. As it was ok in 2 wheel drive we drove it the short distance home.
We contacted EH & they couldnt book it in for a month when a courtesy car would be available but told us as it drove in 2 wheel ok we could continue to drive it.
On 2 seperate occassions I drove a 70 mile round trip (one of which was for them to put it on a diagnostic as the malfunction indicator light came on) and called in and asked them to take a look at it to give them a better idea as to what they were dealing with & incase they needed to order any parts...They declined saying they had it booked in with a local 4x4 specialist.
A week after taking it in for the diagnostic - 30 days after informing them of the 4x4 problem I drove the vehicle 35 miles to Stoke & collected a courtesy vehicle at a charge of £10 per day. As I was only due to have it 1 day, it was cheaper to pay the £10 than change cover on my own insurance.
I received a call around 4pm from EH, they needed the vehicle another day as they hadnt found the problem, & I could keep the courtesy vehicle & commented my Warranty would only cover £500! NO, my warranty does not specify that!!!!
I called the place where they had taken my vehicle...
He had told EH the problem & cost - Broken Axel & Idle Air Valve needed replacing at a cost of £2,200 BUT the Gear Box could not be checked for damage until Axel was fixed!!!
No wonder EH lied about not knowing the problem & commenting on warranty limit!
Lots of emails, lots of hassle in the meantime trying to get them to repair it at no cost to me, or I get it fixed & they pay or I would be happy to get it repaired with used parts, with no luck although they offered £1000 towards repairs or Buy vehicle back (which would have left me without a car and cost to hire one til i found another, plus £300 out of pocket from their admin charges when buying the vehicle), or a replacement vehicle from their stock to the same value of the vehicle (no thanx matey!). I ended up having the courtesy vehicle for 30 days before they demanded it back... 'I dont know if you're aware Miss Evans, but we will not be charging you for the courtesy car, so saving you £300'... too bloody right you're not was my thought!
I had my vehicle removed by my mechanic & 10 days late its fixed but at my expense with used parts. EH said I had caused the damage, but we have the offending parts & sorry EH - you're wrong looking at the amount of rust on the break!
All through-out their corresspondances they keep refering to the Gear Box as the problem, we've explained to them that at no point had they expressed to us that the problem was the gear box!
I am now in the process preparing to take them to court.
I have started a Blog where I have put pictures of My Warranty, The Warranty posters with the terms (not my warranty EH) posted in the show room and the location of the posters, plus the broken Offending parts.
oops it wont let me post my 'blogspot', so you may find it by googling 'evanshalshaw-nightmare'.
Im just filling out my small claims form...
I know they are in breach of section 13 & 14 of the sales of goods act, but from my quick details can anyone tell me anything else they are in breach of?0 -
I bought a new focus zetec last year on a 10 plate, and from day one, I had several problems to which I pointed them out to Altrincham dealership, which are as follows:
1. rough idling
2. power surges on acceleration
3. flat spots on acceleration
4. I pod connectivity grayed out
5. Bluetooth not working properly
6. satnav worked intermittently
It took 2 weeks to get it booked in for them to turn around to say it had been fixed and it was the throttle body. within 5 minutes I was back on the phone telling them it wasn't fixed and they said it need to be booked back in which will be another 2 weeks, which I did. That time it came out with the air pipe not connected at the air box (not the throttle body)
I put this back on myself and the problem came back. So I complained to ford UK and they booked it in for a Saturday, as it would be quicker. when I took it in there I was told just to wait in the waiting room, after an hour I asked how long would it be as I knew it hadn't even gone into the workshop to which I was told they are working on it now. when I pointed out that it was still in the car park, they then got shirty by saying you can take it if you wish as it is going to be at least another 1/2 hour before it will be seen as they a reprogramming an ecu, when I told them what it was in for they said it was to put the pipe back on and not diagnostics as they don't do any work like that on a Saturday. I then booked the car in again to do the diagnostics which you guessed another 2 weeks, that time they said nothing was wrong with it but they had reflashed the ECU, I took it away then phoned ford uk where they said take it back in and show the technician the fault, I did this and the technician concurred, but by 4 o’clock I could pick it up, where I was told again there was no fault. I reported this back to ford UK, where they booked me into polar ford. When I took it there I showed there technician and again he concurred. 3 days later I got the car back saying it was fixed and they had done an update on the dash as this controlled the pedals, as I drove home when I braked it accelerated and went up to 3500rpm. I reported this immediately to ford UK where they said they would book it back at EH and I should have had a replacement vehicle by now, however EH said it was down to ford. they want to send a salesman to recover the car even though they new I had a brake issue, I got it uplifted by ford assist where they did a report saying what was wrong with it. It was in for 3 days again where they have said there was nothing wrong with it. It is still at the dealership where it has been from middle of November 2010. I have even had to buy another car for the time being. I changed the logbook back into there name but they are refusing the car even though the outstanding issues are as follows:
All the above but with a brake issue. Not even the stereo has been fixed even though it needs a simple cd software update. Ford UK and Ford Finance have said it has nothing to do with them and is down to the dealership. I have tried to speak with the legal department at EH head office but they referred everything to the dealership. I quoted the supply of goods act to them again and told them I am rescind the contract due to the report where the said if a fault is found they would give me a refund less usage, where it clearly states in the act a full refund plus compensation for reasonable costs. They said take us to court then and get legal representation.

Right,
Evans Halshaws solicitor has asked my mechanic for proof of payment for work done telling him I don't have any! They have only asked me for my bank statement to show the amount, to which I declined as I paid cash, so they don't even know if I have the receipts!!!
Do I or my mechanic have to provide proof of payment if they have already had a copy of the estimate to complete repairs?
I also feel the need to reply to them in response to the fact they have LIED to my mechanic about my posession of the receipts!!! Surely they are wrong to do so?
How do I reply???0
