I bought a car from Evans Halshaw:
- The battery was insufficient for the car's needs, if it was left two days without a start it wouldn't start
- The horn didn't work with the lights on; now although this was a fault on the model of car, they MOTd it and should have checked it as they are a Vauxhall dealer and have the recall database?
- ^ When I took my car back because of this, I wasn't allowed to take it away as they said it was un-roadworthy, despite them having sold me it!
- ^ They tried telling me I would have to pay anything over £500 to fix it despite 1) them selling me it only a few weeks earlier in this state and 2) Vauxhall fixing it for free under recall
- They couldn't "find" the advisory issued when they MOTd it the day before I picked it up, despite having the MOT certificate. Promised me it was sorted and they would post me the advisory, but never got it after asking numerous times. To be fair, the MOT in the years following never had an advisory so they could have fixed it.

We bought a second hand car from Evans Halshaw last year, terrible service from them when its broken down twice since. We are now wanting rid of the car and would definitely not recommend buying from them again.
Both times there have been major problems with the gearbox, which they can't fix and then it has to be transferred from them to the manufacturers garage, meaning more time farting around. The Durham and Hartlepool branches are really bad!! Bad communication, bad attitude. I can't wait to sell this car!!No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
Good at very first contact. Then....
Bought a 2nd hand car, paid (ridiculous amount) for that upholstery treatment.
Bought a new Dacia last year, messed me around and admitted it. Tried to sell me finance I didn't want, did not forgive me for that. Pressured me into signing things I didn't need, left out some I did need. Called me back for their errors. Didn't fix a fault, when they only needed to look at the difference with another car (did they make it faulty?) - problem still not sorted 9 months later. Stuffed the warranty docs in the wheel compartment, not filled in. Rude when I approached them about this and wasted my time, didn't phone WHENEVER they said they would.
Needed bodywork repair, 6 days after consenting to their quote contacted me for deposit, to order the parts. "no contact details" yet I was returning their call. I'm waiting to see what a mess they will make of my car.
I have been thinking they choose certain people, based on age and race - cleaners all seem to be immigrants and main staff seem to be in their 50's or 30's.... jones and their kids.0
