Can you and a few other neighbours pop over to the house and close it up? If the front door has a Yale type lock then you may be able to lock it too?

    Hope it gets resolved soon.

Thanks Stuart. The police did come round (3 of them in total). Spent ages looking round with torches before spending about 30 mins trying to get it all locked up. The builders were back round this morning though. It's all very odd. Not like any renovation I've ever seen before anyway. I'm sure I've been watching too much tv, but it all seems quite dodgy if you ask me.

Anyway, I've managed a 14 hour sleep. Went to bed at 10pm got up at 12pm!! I've done nothing other than load the dishwasher and watch tv. I'm just starting to feel human now.

Better get cracking though because we are going house viewing down in Wales tomorrow and I won't have an opportunity to do any school work unless I get a wriggle on. I just can't be bothered though. Boo.

Went down to Wales and secured OH a flat, so thats a weight off. However, does mean I'm taking on the bulk of the bills which is a bit grim. Had to pay a retainer for the flat even though he has no plans on moving in for a little while. Going to move in over half term so that I get a mini holiday and he gets the use of the car!

Now just need to motivate him to get some work done on the house! Hmmm...

I'm currently off work...swine flu apparently!
In between vomiting and feeling rather sorry for myself I decided I refuse to feel sorry for myself. So since I've lost the ability to communicate via speech (I'm just sick), I can write myself a list of things to do as soon as my brain is up to it.

Mainly this list revolves round OH and getting him set up...please offer suggestions of anything I've missed or suggestions.
    1. Contents insurance.
    2. TV license.
    3. Phone/broadband.

In fact thats all I can think of. I know he'll need to submit his council tax exception form but he'll have to get that first.

As for the phone/broadband jobbie. We pay a fortune for our BT internet. We tried talk talk to save us some money and kept not getting access to the internet. So we went back to BT and appear to be paying £25 per month for it. Which seems rather a lot.

Not got the brain power to do anything about it at the minute though. But I'd like to try to reduce this figure if I could.

EDIT: We are paying about £32 per month for broadband and phone line rental. It's unlimited broadband which clearly we won't need here anymore but might workout well for OH at his flat. So we could ask to swap it I guess. But then I'll need the internet too. A phone line could be handy as well.

Ok, so I've been on the debt free forum for AGES now and appear, thanks to the lovely Martin Lewis and the people that use the forum to have paid off nearly all my debts. Just the mortgage to go now.

However, I can't put money to paying off the mortgage because I am doing my teacher training and don't have a job lined up for September yet. And my hubby is a full time student, though he does work too.

Anyway, his contract runs out in July so at the moment we will both be unemployed from that date forward. So it's save save save time. So that a) we can afford to live while unemployed, b) we have money to chuck at the mortgage at a later date while keeping a safety net open, or c) use the money we save to finish off doing up the house.

We currently live in our bedroom....it's most annoying. I'll explain more another time if anyone is interested, but needless to say it would be nice to get the living room sorted, and the bathroom, and the kitchen........

Anyway, I've just filled my ISA for this year and have money waiting to go into next years already, so I'm feeling pretty positive! Yey me.

    Well done:beer: Good luck:A

Hi we're with Tiscali at the mo, the line rental is £9.35 and broadband is £15.31 and we never pay more than £30 per month for the line/broadband/calls. The company is being taken over by TalkTalk I think but hopefully that won't affect the price/service.

Hope you feel better soon x

    Hi Twinklie

Sorry to hear that you're not well, I hope it doesn't last too long. I think I have a cold lurking, I have 5 days off at the end of the week which coincide with the first 3 days of OHs half term so I am sure it will strike then.

Twinklie hope you recover from H1N1 - took some time for me to do so in July.

Regarding the above, do consider whether you'll use web cam etc to chat to each other rather than the phone line as it may be cheaper to do that (or likewise use Skype).

Good for you! :A I think I might force myself to follow suit. I'm still off work; did go in this morning but had to come home again (30 mins with yr 11 and I was a dizzy wreck!) Dr has now diagnosed viral labyrinthitis and signed me off till Thursday n the fists instace but said it may take weeks so recover fully! My aim is to not wobble over as I'm walking up the aisle! :rotfl:

Get well soon, Twinkle, and good luck with getting stuff done
    Updating soon...

We used MSN messenger and webcams and it was a god send. Used to talk on the mobile at the same time. It helped a lot
