Hi Twinklie,
I've been lurking for a while and not posted in ages - well done on your progress and sorry to hear you're not well.
I live in Germany and my DH lives in the UK. It can be difficult but - I know it's stating the obvious - it does help to focus on the things that you do like about it, rather than those you don't. For example, having evenings to yourself, making more effort to spend time with friends, the time you do spend together being really special. When DH is coming over, I try to get the food shopping and laundry done in the week, so we don't spend all weekend on admin - which used to happen a lot when we lived closer together. I would also recommend Skype and instant messenger of whatever form you like, also emails can be nice to come in to and you can read them again if you are feeling a bit down.
Hope you feel better soon and best of luck with OH living in Wales.

Thanks Sarah. Nice to know long distance can work for people. I'm actually looking forward to it at the minute. I'm sure it'll be a chore after a bit but, hey, I'm looking at it this way...I get to have a naughty weekend away almost every weekend. Ha ha. Plus I'll have a tidy house for once with a lack of bread crumbs all over every kitchen surface!
During the week the plan is that we both get all our work done (so for me when I leave school on a Friday I don't pick anything up to do with it again until Monday). This way when I'm down there we can have a nice day out or a nice day in!
We are both going to have the internet so messenger and emails are no object. I do need to look into skype though. I will try and get all the laundry done as well. I'm lucky in a way though I have some uni days coming up so it means he has to come up to see me (which is nice so it's not all one way). Should hopefully give me a bit of catch up time so I don't get run down again...if I ever get better.
We dont actually see that much of each other during the week as it is. Mon, Weds and Friday he doesn't get home till after 7 - 730pm. And Tuesdays he goes out for lads nights, Fridays is lads night with another group of friends and his brother. I'm in bed by 10 - 10.30pm most nights as well. So by the time we've cooked tea and eaten we have little time for anything else. I'm hoping it means weekends become proper quality time.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Twinklie, I only see my OH at weekends & holidays & it works for us (he thinks we'd kill each other if we were together all the time, he may well be right
)
Not sure where you're getting the crumb free existence from though, doesn't work like that for meA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

We spent 5 1/2 yrs weekend commuting, which ended once redundancy hit in 1992. Once I got a job it was 140miles round trip a day, then down to 120 for 18months, but at least we had time together and didn't live two separate lives. You have a fixed timeline so I think that will help - we were trying to get jobs "somewhere" close together. Worked ok in the long run, best wishes to you both.0 -
Thanks guys. Although we've decided if in the unlikely event a job down there does come up...I should go for it. Neither of us wants to live here and my sis and nephew are down there, as well as the aceness of the welsh countryside/mountains.
Right, new thing tonight. Feel exhausted, ache all over but I can't sleep. I'm literally dead on my feet, but can't sleep. It's annoyed me which has made it worse!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

I've just looked at the renewal for our home buildings and contents insurance and i got it nearly £245 cheaper on the cheapest quote!! OMG! :eek:
Seem to be having a few issues trying to get anything to recognise OH's new address though...so I don't quite know how to get round that one. Hmmm...Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
