Yes, the plan is to use it mainly for incoming calls.
I registered this morning and it all seems to be running quite nicley with X-lite. I haven't had to pay out anything so far. I got a number with the right code for my area too. Voipcheap did not give me this.0 -
Voipcheap only have area codes for major areas, Sipgate has area codes for all areas.
I use VoIP Stunt and Sipgate, Sipgate I've had since not long after they launched, only using it for incoming and calls to 0800/0808 numbers. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

VoipCheap credit is valid for 120 days.
Your credit will expire in 30 days.
We advise you to use your credit before it expires and/or buy new credit so your current credit will not expire.

Yes your credit vanishes unless you put more money in before the dates get down to zero. If you put more money in the credit goes up to what you had left plus what you have just put in. If you only use viopcheap, voipstunt etc. for free calls all you can do is use the credit up on 0845 or 0870 numbers.0

Thanks for that - good to hear. Do you happen to know what the minimum top-up amount is for each 120-day period?

PS - it's OK - just occurred to me to check by going to "My Account" and then "Buy credit". The answer is £10. So it costs £2.50 a month for all my landline calls plus an increasing amount of money to spend on 0845, 0870 calls & very rarely, (if ever) a paid-for international call. Too much of this "FREE" business being flashed all over voip web sites ?0 -
BTW it is £10 + VAT, so you need to add another £1.75 (i.e you pay £11.75 every 120 days).Personally I still think its good value."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Is it UK VAT they are using now, I know when I topped up with them, when it was only £1 credit, they were using Swiss VAT @ 16%.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... By signing up with voipcheap.co.uk you get completely free calls to UK landlines and to a host of other countries BUT you have to buy credit for chargable calls and you are resticted to calling from a USB phone or a headset connected to your computer. If you prefer the freedom of a chordless phone they do offer to connect your call at their rates (i.e. 0p/min in many cases) via your landline phone but with an addittional 3p connection charge.
HOWEVER, on the voipcheap.co.uk homepage there is (currently) the facility to make a call via your ordinary phone *completely* free - no need to sign-up, log-in or buy any credit. All you have to do is type the number of your landline phone in one box and the destination number in another box, then click "call". Your landline phone rings and when you pick up you are then connected to the number you are calling. No idea how long this option will be available - make the most of it!0
