    Hi,

I don't think you can get the PAP2 and the PC go online at the same time with your current settings (i.e. the cable modem only lets either the USB port or the ethernet port go online at a time).

The easiest thing to do is to buy a cheap router.

However, you are still able to set your PC and the PAP2 online with your current hardwares. It is difficult and you will need your PC switched on at all time to let the PAP2 connect to the internet.

    Here is the brief idea:
    1. Connect cable modem to PC via USB.
    2. Connect the PAP2 to PC via the Ethernet port on the PC.
    3. Share the internet connection from PC via the "Internet Connection Sharing" wizard on the PC.
    4. Set the IP address, subnet mask, gateway on the ethernet card of the PC (192.168.0.1)
    5. Set the static IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.10), subnet mask, gateway for the PAP2 (by using the phone connecting to the PAP2)
    That's it !!!

My advice: buy a router to avoid the hassles.

Right, I have now moved and looking at setting this up again.

OK, i've now got the modem connected to the PC via USB. Ethernet connection between VoIP adapter and modem, and phone connected to VoIP adapter.

Dialing **** then 110# advises 192.168.2.160 but when I enter that into my browser it just comes back with "cannot find server" (IE) and "problem loading page" (FF). Any idea?

*edit* I can get onto my modem config via 192.168.100.1 if that means anything

Think I am going for this option!

What do I require on one (4x Ethernet etc), for simply the VoIP adapter (i.e keeping my net connection direct to the computer as is at the moment)?

What you should do is get a DSL router, the cable modem connects to the router, then the router connects to the PC, you can then also connect the PAP2 to the router.

Trying any other way is pointless and just going to cause you headache after headache.

    Looks fine.

I'm similar, have a wireless router as it was cheaper than just a wired one.

Have the wireless side switched off most the time, only switch it on when friends and family come with their laptops or I am working on customers machines.

Edit: 2nd one looks fine too.

I'm assuming either will be fine with Blueyonder?

Yes, you connect the cable modem to the WAN port on the router, and then one of the LAN ports on the router to the PC.

    Hi all,

My voipcheap credit has expired. I'm not too happy about this, as there is nothing in their terms and conditions about this and I did not receive any sort of remiinder Email. Most of the original £10 was still on there, as I had hardly used the service, but I was about to start using it more, due a change in circumstances.

It's not the end of the world, of course - it's only £10. Even so, they won't be getting a penny more from me. Might give sipgate a try - just gonna check out the T&Cs now.

Once you have decided you dislike the Betmax company group :

Some other VOIP service companies worth looking at are Wengo (in France) and Vbuzzer (in Canada).

Neither offer "free" calls (except perhaps the Wengo 2 month offer if it is still available), but the credit lasts longer before expiring so they are better for low volume users.

Are both sipgate and voipcheap part of this group, then?
