Hi Grumbler,
Thanks for your post here. I would just like to reassure you though that all Handsets come with a 12 month Warranty from the date of sale to our Customer....If the handset experiences a manufacturing fault within the first 12 months and it can not be repaired a replacement or refund will be offered.
Hope this helps0 -
I ordered a BlackBerry shell from them last week and it's just arrived, all present and correct. :jThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

The problem is that AFAIK the majority of the Handsets have 24 months manufacturer's warranty if bought correctly.
This problem was clearly highlighted in the thread I have posted the link to, but instead of addressing the problem you keep reassuringus that all the phones came with 12 months warranty. Does this make any sense?
Chicken_Mad wrote: »I purchased a mobile phone online from Prepaymania about 16 months ago. Unfortunatley the phone has a fault but Samsung offer a 2 year warranty so they arranged for it to go to a repair centre.
The phone has been returned un-repaired stating that it is has an invalid European warranty.
When I enquired further I discover it was made in India and not to EU specification so no repairs can be done in the Uk.
The suggestion was to complain to Prepaymania and request a replacement that is European Spec.
Obviously, so far, I have not got anywhere with my complaint to Prepaymania, they state it is out of their 1 year warranty.0 -
No, this doesn't help at all.

Hi Grumbler
Thanks for clearing that up. Yes some manufacturers do offer 24 months warranty on some European Handsets. The only problem of course is that the European Version quite often costs a lot more money, and this of course drives the price up to the consumer...Where possible we would of course give a 24 month warranty, but where this is not possible Prepaymania will always give a minimum of 12 months warranty. We would never wish to miss lead a customer and therefore we state 12 months warranty through out our website. If the particular handset in question carries a 2 year warranty because we obtain the stock from the EU then we would of course honour that (even though we state 12 months on our website) we would always like to ensure our customers always receive the best possible service from us.0 -

It would be fine if you made it clear on the website which handsets don't carry the full manufacturer's warranty. I can be wrong, but I believe that you fail to do this.
As I quoted in the above thread,http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?143822-Grey-Import-Sale-of-Goods-ActI spoke to Trading Standards, who said that the SOGA applied as the goods were not as described (by ommision, one presumes) and that the expectation was that in a UK shop, it is reasonable to expect a UK camera unless otherwise stated. I spoke to Which? legal services, who agreed, adding that I had been induced into the transaction in the expectation of obtaining UK goods.
And I don't think that it's 'some manufacturers' that offer 24 months.
I believe it's 'some' that offer 12 while the majority offer 24.0 -
Hi Thanks for this Grumbler, a good suggestion has come from this that we may be able to state by item rather than just in our T&C's if an item carries more than our standard 12 Months warranty. I will look into this some more to see if it can be implemented onto our site. Thanks again for the suggestion.
Worth also noting that the link provided by you was not for PPM but for a retail store selling a camera. If this had been supplied by Prepaymania under the same terms, of course the customer would have been able to send the item back without hesitation as we offer a 14 Day Money Back Guarantee (obviously the product has to remain "As new" for this guarantee).
Once again thanks for the suggestion and I will look into this further.
I can also always be contacted directly through the Prepaymania Ticket system as simple adding MSE-Support in the message body.
Also in reference to our 14 day money back guarantee. During the Christmas period we also extend this warranty from 14 days to 30 days. (allowing for unwanted christmas presents), as long as we are notified within the first 14 days (Or 30 days 1st Dec to 31st Dec) of the intent to return the item unused, them once we receive the item back a full refund will be given.0 -
I read all this thread, the feedback in ebay to them, and all I can say is I don't know if I can buy to them, but for now my answer is NO!
The feeback on ebay (1) you can note the pattern in issues, not so different from what people say here too.
Even the forum (2) are empty? How possible with this prices? hmmm
Other story, the people that come here to say good stuff about them is like, the first and the only post, are them a truly users? hmmm...
Today people love cheap things, but they are clever, they need to be, so many sh*t happens nowadays, that's why they want TRUST first.
So, Prepaymania Support how can you put your customers more safe about your products? Even me want to buy some product, you have really nice prices, but why I need put me on troubles if that will increase the price as the same/similar at a normal shop?! And I'm not talking about the time and work to treat all issues that can appear, because just can! How?

STAY AWAY FROM PREPAYMANIA!
Not too long ago i bought a Samsung B2100 from these cowboys through Amazon as they appeared to be £10 cheaper than buying directly from Amazon. When the phone arrived, the packaging didn't have the Manufacturer's seal but their own seal. Didn't think much of this until i realised that the phone had some custom ringtones on it and some recently dialled numbers!!! Obviously wasn't brand new, they either sold me a returned unit or one of their people had a quick play with it before selling it to me. Obviously i returned it and got a full refund and happily paid a tenner extra to get a brand new unit from Amazon directly.0 -

Hi vcatpt
Thank you for this, I appreciate that there are some reviews on here that can paint Prepaymania in a bad light, dont forget though Prepaymania have over 1 million customers now through the outlets and sites that they sell on, over 99% (Figure quoted from ebay) of people purchasing from Prepaymania have a very good experience. Obviously this is still short of the treasured 100% and of course we work very hard to try and achieve this and ensure that customers always have a good buying experience with us. There are also of course other ways in which you can make your purchase even more secure. Paying by Credit Card would always give you Protection under the terms of your credit card, but also paying with a third party like Paypal will also give you that extra safety blanket should you feel you need it.
I hope this helps to answer your question and I thank you for the interest in Prepaymania and the opportunity to offer advice.0 -

Hi baby frogmella
Im sorry to hear that you have had problems with purchasing from Prepaymania through our Amazon store. Samsung B2100's were purchased from Europe hence the quite reasonable price that we had them for sale at. Obviously as they would have come with a European Plug the items would have been box checked and the European Plug replaced with a UK one, then re-sealed with our own security tag. All our products unless otherwise stated (usually with terms like Grade A in the title line) are brand new and direct from Manufacturers. If you could mail me through out ticket system with MSE-Support in the message body I would be very interested in following this up as obviously we can track the history of the handset (Certainly through Prepayamnia) from its IMEI no which would have been logged against your transaction.
I am pleased to hear that you did get a full refund and I would like to assure all our customers that should there be a problem and you are unhappy with your purchase in any way, we have a 14 day return policy (you only need to notify us within these 14 days) this is in place regardless of which outlet you choose to use to buy from Prepaymania and it is extended every year between 1st of December and 1st of January.
I would like to get to the bottom of this problem though so if you would like to email me I would be very happy to look into it.
Thank you for originally choosing Prepaymania, Im sorry that your initial transaction with us was not a successful one and I hope at some point we will be able to serve you again. With a much happier ending0
