A friend of mine got a Nokia 6700 from them today.
A) the delivery was 4 days latethe phone had fingerprints all over it
C) there were about 40-50 private pictures on the phone
So, this could indicate that they sell reconditioned phones. There is your explanation, why they are so cheap. Sometimes, when it's too cheap or too good to be true, it is not true. If you order from them, just check the phone whether it was not pre-owned before. It was very easy in my friend's case, as they did not even bother to reset and clean it, before they sent it out.0 -
I'm so sorry to hear about your experience but luckily I have had really good experiences with Prepaymania. It's not just only me but my family and most of my friends got their phones from Prepay. They too can vouch their experiences with the company.
Just last month I ordered the BL40 from them, i received it a day early than expected and in really good condition. I have always received items from them on time (oftentimes even earlier) plus the fact that their products are really affordable makes buying from them worthwhile.
I recommend them to those who wants phones that are cheap without having to sacrifice quality.
Kudos to Prepay!:T0 -

BE WARNED!!0 -
hmm yes it is interesting that the positive comments about prepaymania are by people with few posts.
Update on my experience- prepay mania refused to refund me my money for my phone that broke after 4 months saying 'The handset's warranty is for repair & not refund'. Told me to send it off to them then suprise suprise stated
'Unfortunately our service centre cannot repair your handset as it falls outside our warranty terms (it is a physical damage), which is classified as a customer damage'.
it was not a physical damage done by myself. I handle my phones carefully and it was a charging problem. Given the age of the phone as it was outside of manufacturers warrenty it was most likely a refurbished phone being sold as new.
Also interesting was how they completely sidestepped or ignored the issue of the lack of 'manufacturers warrenty' that it was meant to come with.
I just hope that someone reads these genuine posts before considering purchasing from this dodgy outfit.
prepay mania avoid!:mad::mad:0 -
bellyfester, not clear what you are saying.
A phone is covered by 12 month warranty (minimum from the manufacturer).
Damage which is deemed to be caused by the user is not covered. That is probably why cpw repair centre refused to repair it and likewise nokia.
Its difficult to prove that the damage is not something that you did, that much I know from my experience of mobiles.
My only experience with preapymania was to get the nokia 1208 few months from them. Bargain £4.95 with added £5 top up - t-mobile unlocked.0 -
Hi OneaDay
No that is not why the Carphone Warehouse Nokia repaircentre or Nokia themselves did not repair it. All they did was type in the mobile serial number/barcode into their database and see that it was out of manufacturers warrenty and would only repair it for £50 upwards (the cost of my phone). The guy at the carphone warehouse when I told him of my situation was not impressed with prepaymania at all and he had not heard of them before. But there was nothing he could do.
I knew that if I returned it to prepaymania they would try to get out of their responsibility and my emails chasing up the fact that it should have been in warrenty. By stating it is customer damage (when it was not- it had not been dropped & barely used) they make it hard for the customer to prove otherwise (it would involve paying the cost of the phone to get an outside repair- and i can't afford to do that). Its an aggressive tactic to sidestep the fact that the item was not in warrenty. I have documentation from the repair centres saying so and the reason why it was not repaired or even examined.
Keeping hold of the phone for a long time was another tactic that they used and did not try to repair it within the 4 week timeframe that they told me it would be repaired within. After 8 weeks and a lot of emails they then informed me that they would not repair it.
I contacted consumer direct and they said that the longer the timeframe (esp over 6 months) meant that it would be harder for me to chase the matter further legally. Interesting that my phone died after 4 months and that prepay mania kept hold of it for so long....0 -
Take them to court then, I don't know what consumer direct are telling you but legally any product sold as new (at least in my little brain) should have a minimum of 1 year warranty.
If they flogged you an old model without the proper warranty cover or worse a used model (without telling you) then its breaking the loooo (I mean law).
As they have not responded, send them a written letter stating clearly your problem (don't make it long) and give them 14 days to respond or you take it small claims.0
