I still feel bad about being the one to say it....

    Can i keep my number?!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....
    (it's part of my charm!)
  • I think we need to keep things in perspective here - I started this thread as a support network, and different people are obviously taking different things from it. Personally, when I read about £400 on a pair of shoes it helps me; reading stuff like that gives me the motivation to not spend compulsively.
Yes Maz, I think you're right, sometimes it does seem like people are saying "Ooh, look how much I've spent", but if that's what people need to do, and if it helps, then I don't see it as a problem.
I am definitely not here to reprimand people for spending - we're all big enough and ugly enough to look after ourselves. Yes, I do rib people for spending, and I think the light hearted banter helps.
Maybe writing those impulsive spends down on paper helps those who do come on and tell us that they've spent so much on shoes or handbags. Maybe seeing it there in black and white is a little bit of therapy.
I certainly don't want to lose the light-hearted nature of this thread - it really does help me through, and I for one have definitely cut down on the compulsive spending since I started the thread. I know some people haven't, and maybe they don't even want to, but that's their choice. I'm just happy I've got some company whilst I'm on the road to recovery.
I love each and every member of my little SA group, and I wouldn't change anything! :kisses: :iloveyou:

Don't feel bad - I felt bad yesterday as I was encouraging everyone to spend money which I know isn't really the name of the game.. :o

Hope what I said made some sense tho? And don't beat yourself up too much about the odd lapse. As long as it is only the "odd" one you will continue to make progress and so hopefully will the rest of us. When I start my DMP I will have more money each month than i have had for ages (which is none so it won't be difficult!) and it's just possible that I will sometimes spend part of the food budget on the latest must have wedges, but if I then have to eat beans on (smartprice) bread for a week, that is still far preferable to putting on my cc (and yes I know I could eat the beans and put the money saved towards cc's and maybe some months I will, but at other times I will just have to give in to the urge!)

You'll have to Spendaholic about your number ;) - I'm the newbie here!! (but making a name for myself me thinks...:D - hopefully in a good (ish) way tho.

The toothbrushes were a real bargain! Considering one branded one could cost you more than that! Apart from the biccies I'd say that none of those were compulsive spends - you could have spent much, much more on a moisturiser!
I went to Asda for the first time in three weeks today, and succumbed :o . I bought two Lindt chocolate bunnies (£1.49 each) - one for me, and one for a friend who's last day at work is today. I'm still quite proud of myself though; normally I would have come out with MORE tops for my daughter, maybe a cd, and plenty of other random c**p!!:j

Hate to tell you this, but Lindt bunnies are three for the price of two in Woolies ! But well done on the self restraint! :D
