Morning all!
I think I may have missed something along the way, but SoHurt, what's happened to make you hurt? I went through a big spending spate when my daughter's father left me at 3 months pregnant. It helped that I could - I moved into my dad's after it happened, so all of my salary was mine to spend. I had no debts then either, so all of my spending was definitely guilt-free. However, I think that's what probably got me into the debt-mess I'm in now - I think it started a pattern of behaviour that once I moved into my own flat again I could ill-afford to maintain. Whatever the pain is, it will go away eventually ((((HUGS)))).
As regards the plastic - I don't have any anymore! They has to be cut up when I started my DMP. I now only have my debit card, which I've started to try and leave at home as much as possible. I'm in a position where I get my daughter's maintenance in cash, so I try and live on that for as long as possible, and only think about picking up the card after that's run out. I'm trying now to get myself into the habit of not using the debit card for purchases, just for cash withdrawals. It seems to be working so far - it's that hate-to-part-with-hard-cash syndrome. So far my money seems to be lasting in my bank account a lot longer. I've used my card five times for purchases this month; 3 online food shops, one meal out for Mother's Day, and a pack of cigs with cashback. It's difficult, but the satisfaction of knowing I've still got money in my account is worth it. Having cash instead of 'free money' on my debit card definitely helps to curb the compulsive spending habit!
Sorry for going on a bit there! Hope everyone has a good weekend! I'm off to see an ABBA tribute band tonight, should be fun!

Yes have fun of off out for a meal with my friends tonight, haven't been out out like that for a long while and I'm drinking tonight (no alcohol since beginning of January!) should be a cheap night as I can't handle my drink at the best of times least of all when I haven't drunk for months!
Hope everyone has a good weekend:EasterBun0 -

I'm not sure who it was earlier who said about hating spending cash. I'm the same I just can't seem to hand it overI like to keep it in case I need it which I will never will because I can never part with it - hope that made sense
Its so easy to spend with a card where you can't see money actually changing hands. I have hidden my credit cards in my house so any money I spend now is not adding to my debts, I accept it is also not paying them off but my life would be miserable if I couldn't treat myself once in a while. I am so much better than I used to be. I have been working in Cambridge today and the only thing I bought was my lunch normally I would have had a look round the shops and bought lots of stuff I didn't need:o
Has anyone read the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella? They are fantastic well worth reading (from the library obviously I'm encouraging anyone to spend;) )
Hi Little Miss
It was me who said she couldn't spend cash. I think that (and my other money issues) partly stem from when I was a single mum with my little boy (i met my husband when he was five) Before that I earned about £750 a month and just had no money and no one would lend me any either! So when later on people starting throwing money at me, i thought "i'll keep that even tho i don't need it, cos if/when i do really need it, probably no one will give it to me!" Obviously not only did i keep it i spent it!
Have read read the shopoholic books - they are great although slightly annoying that the ending made it seem so easy - i guess if you've got a wardrobe full of designer clothes to auction, you'll be fine!;)0 -
Am taking my kitty to the vets this morning for vaccinations. He's a house kitty, but my other cat died last year and we might get a new kitten in a few months:T so he needs to be vaccinated. Wonder how much it will cost:eek: He's a big scaredy cat so it will be interesting to see if we can coax him out of the cat carrier:rotfl:No exciting evening plans for me this weekend. Might go to Brighton on sunday tho.:D

OOh, my cat is a big scaredy cat too and did horrible things in the cat basket!I think the injections are arouond £50 but i can't really remember. The will also try to selll you the Frontline flea stuff and worming tablets. these are the best (as opposed to pet shop ones) but you can now buy Frontline in Pets At Home and it's a lot cheaper (or so I'm told as haven't actually needed any for a while) .
I had a cat who died too it was horrible i cried buckets He was such a character and the house just doesn't seem like home without them does it? x0 -
I took my cat to the vets in january for her injections and a worming tablet (can not give it to her no matter how I try!) It was £70 in total  She goes out but not very far but I would never forgive myself if she caught something she could have been vacinated against. The vet said they now do worming stuff you put on the back of her neck.
I always used frontline and have been buying it from the vets so will have a look at Pets at home for it, thank you for the tip :T
My cat hates her cat box as well and no matter if she hadn't eaten the day before or has used her litter tray before we leave she still does something nasty in there and then usually sits in it so she needs a bath when we get home  The vet suggested this special spray which calms her down when she is in there - does it work? does is £&*! !!
The old vets she went to had a Healthy pet club whihc you paid monthly so it spread the cost of the worming tablets, flea treatment and injections over the year. its worth asking if they do something similar as it was the best way of doing it.:EasterBun0 -
OOOOOH! My boy would never do such things in his basket. He's a :A. He had a swab taken today to test for Chlamydia. Formally known in my house as cat-clap:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:That cost £70, and the vaccinations were only £30 as there's an offer on at the moment. I also bought him a catnip spray as I felt guilty about traumatising him. So including VAT it cost £120. He hasn't been to the vets for 6 years tho so I can't complain. He's now hiding behind the curtain. I imagine the next time I see him will be Monday morning.:D

Went out last night with the girls but turned out to be a mega disaster, long story. But on the positive point I only spent £6!!!0 -
