    good afternoon roomies

    member #8 checking in.

no compulsive spending for me so far this week. am feeling pretty good.
got home this afternoon and checked banking online and found HSBC have credited my account with my PPI refund!! whit woo!!!
so thats £2800 extra in my account. getting shakey at all the precious shiney things I could buy!!
BUT have done the boring, sensible thing :p have transfered £1000 into OH account to pay him back from 2 years ago and paid £1800 off CC. just £1000 left to go! hopefully pay that off at the end of the month.

its funny you know - I dont feel the need to buy anything at the moment - when I look at things, especially on ebay, all I see is my CC bill in front of my eyes and I think that nothing is more important than clearing that .

thank you to everyone for your ongoing support - dont know what I'd do without you - oh - yes I do and it does not bear thinking about!!!!!! :rotfl:

I have a small shop's worth of things that i could put on ebay - brand new pair of Kenneth Cole Platform Peeptoes bought because they were reduced from £85 to £27 - never worn (of course!) (although they are actually rather nice..) any takers... :D

We'll have none of that in here thank you!!!! :rotfl:

    :j Good news Jennyred!!
I'm starting to come around to your way of thinking too. I just see something that I really want, but then £9458 flashes in front of my eyes! Kind of puts me off a bit. Trouble is, I'm not spending because it's middle of the month syndrome - no money to spend! Although, I'm clinging on to what little I've got a lot longer than I used to!! However, I'm sure the start of April will be another matter entirely!

  • oh dear I havent been here for such a long time and then someone bumps the thread!! Tescos are doing 30% off all jeans. So I bought three pairs but they would have been £40 normally and I got them for £28. And isn't it best to buy jeans that fit and the saves you in the future spending more!!! Right?? No - oh ok then. *hides*

Maddy, did you not know that is the 11th commandment -

"Thou shall bulk buy jeans that fit - especially when they are less than £15 per pair!!"

Damn! It's more than 2 hours before I can get to Tesco!!! (although could be a lot sooner if I don't quit posting on here and do some work :D )

    I know, I'm sorry :(

Will try to be more supportive (in your challenges to NOT spend money that is!)

It's just that this thread is a real tonic after my other posts when everyone was a bit mean to me just because i wanted new shoes! (only one pair a month for goodness sake!;) ) you'd think I wanted to buy the shop! Only kidding but they can be a harsh on the "other side" and you guys seem to have retained your sense of humour amist all the money saving, which is all I am trying to do really.

In all seriousness, I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO INTENTION OF GOING TO TESCO TO BUY JEANS AFTER WORK. I'm going to Asda :rotfl:

Really seriously tho _ I have gotten LOADS better recently and I honestly think the best way not to buy is not to look (and that includes buying glossy mags as you always have to have the latest "must have".) I only think I really need something is when i have seen it in a mag or on the high street (and the £50 I spent in FATFACE at Gatwick last week didn't count AT ALL, cos i was on holiday!) :D

It's only a bit of gentle ribbing!! You're right though, some of those guys on the other threads (not necessarily on the DFW board) can be a bit harsh! I got laid into about asking if I had any rights to get my ex OH to set up a standing order to pay maintenance instead of cash. I got absolutely slated - accused of wanting more money, and not being satisfied with what I was getting, and all sorts. I was only asking an innocent question and I wasn't after anymore money!!!

Oops, sorry, rant over. Went off-topic a bit there!

I haven't updated on my situation for a couple of days have I? Well as far as the compulsive spending's going, I'm not doing too badly. I only food shop online now, and also meal plan, and I really do stick to the list! Not having George right in front of your face really helps. I went into town at the weekend and all I bought was a magazine for my daughter! So it's not going too badly. I'm down to £109 to last me til the 25th March, and I'm determined to do it!!
