My two addictions are spending and chocolate....I've been forced to stop the spending but still succumbing to the chocolate. I now have such a strict weekly budget that I am hoping it will put me off buying chocolate!!!

Sounds like everyone is doing well. 2 days into the shallenge and I'm doing quite well.

Slightly worried that heyjustme has really flown off to Oz after her friday night adventure.:D :D:D:D:D

    Oh the shame...

I have been here but I think after the £300 shoes I am safe to come out of hiding... Although not been good I have had some great buys. (owww missing the point here). Boots Eh... Terrible thread on here an I just have to go and do my bit, but I now have £52.odd for Childrens christmas presents..

But best thing is.. listen this... I told ex OH that I wanted extra money for the children, he said no, I said up to you, you have three weeks. He came back with ok increase if I don't go to CSA. So result all round in less than 24hrs.:T Not that I will get the money it just means I can get the children shoes at full price and not spend as in petrol looking for reduced Clarks ones. Does anyone know a Cheaper good as Clarks make that I could probablt get instead? Your help would be appreicated.

Also been looking at Bored with my sex life thread;)
This is this best laugh I have had for ages...

Goin away for the weekend so I can't spend money. Sister not on the net and it is in the middle of nowhere so I will report back on Sunday evening with a hopefully better march than the beginning. I can say this because the little and I mean little Boots shuts at 1pm :rotfl: yap a Boots that shuts at 1pm on a Saturday:rotfl:

I'd love to join. My name is heppy23 and I am a compulsive spender!

For me it's a comfort thing I think, not sure. I am overweight from what I think is comfort eating. So it seems I have an impulsive/comfort streak.

Spending wise my compulsion have been records, videos, classic scooters.

I've have been in debt due to this before. Got bailed out by my mum who cleared debts with money from downsizing house.

6 years on my credit rating is fixed again and I am creeping up those credit card balances.

My current vices are parts for the scooters (I have 16 scooters but none on the road I can ride and enjoy), love buying books. Hardly buy any music these days, don't get the time to listen to it. I might download an album a month off itunes.

Also the comfort spending is rubbing off onto my 2 year old. I have fridays off to look after him and if I've had a crap week i will spoil him with a toy etc when perhaps a comic would be sufficient. I know that for some kids a whole day spent with their dad would be a treat in itself! I'm getting better at not going mad buying him stuff though.
  • I don't really know why I am a spendaholic, I'm lucky as I had a really good childhood and I don't think I was deprived of anything, although I wasn't spoilt and had to save my pocket money to buy things. I think I just take after my Mum who is always shopping (although she can afford to, that is the difference :p ) I think I just like having new things in my house or clothes, I definatly shop to cheer me up:o

I am off work for four days now and I am planning to stay away from the shops (apart from Tesco as need to buy food!)

In January I did really well and spent hardly anything, then my spending started to creep up. I am going to take back two tops I bought in Tesco a couple of weeks ago that don't look right on me. Why oh Why do I do this? I am always buying things I don't need!

This thread will really help me as I will have to own up to what i have bought (I'm too honest I can't lie:D ) and then you can tell me off and hopefully I will learn my lesson.

Be aware though I am very good at justifying things, I am always talking myself in to buying something and I have a hard job talking myself out of it:rotfl:

I am also in that cycle of spending lots just after payday as I have spent most of the previous month with no money.

My other problem is that I go shopping in my dreams at night and then when I wake up I have the idea in my head that I need (its never want with me!!) whatever it is that I have bought the night before and then I go out and get it! Does this happen to anyone else or is just me who is wierd :o It would be good if I could control this as I would get all the good feelings about shopping as I am doing it in my dreams but it would cost me a penny ;)

I am thinking it maybe a good idea to do a really big Tesco shop at the begining of the month to buy everything i will need (apart from milk and fruit) and have it delivered (no temptation) and then get the milk and fruit from the co op in the village I live as they don't have anyhting else (such as books, dvds, Nintendo DS games, clothes etc etc) that I could buy. I wondered if this would save me money as my weekly shopping is hardley ever under £30 a week!! and always contains something I did not need. What does everyone think?

As for my other addiction - Chocolate, I think that I need to deal with one at a time :D:D Well thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it ;)

I'm sorry for the really long post :o It is another one of my diverisonary techniques I am suppossed to be spring cleaning my house :D

Oh and lastly (I promise) please can I have a number so I can put it in my signature too.

    Thank you :D

  • Oh my God, Little Miss Shopaholic, I felt that could have been me writing your post! It is so hard, isn't it?

I do find that getting one big monthly shop online saves me money. I use Tesco, and it's a really good system as it shows you any similar products that are on offer. You don't miss out on bargains but you also don't have the opoortunity to put random stuff in your trolley. I have saved a fortune on groceries since I've been writing a weekly meal planner and sticking to it. I now just buy what I need and have saved about £60ish a month (and that's not cutting back on the type of meals we eat, just better planning)

Stick with it, I'm sure you can do it.

    Hello,

Could I join please? A day without buying something is a day wasted - that used to be my motto until just a couple of weeks ago when I decided to emabark on a DMP. I have an awful lot to learn. ;)

Thank you I think I will give this ago next month and see what happens. i used to shop on line when I lived 20 miles away from the supermarket but I live a lot closer now and I just can't justify the £6 delivery charge on a weekly basis!
