    Hallo poor...how's the ebay challenge going? I made £25 today. Have already failed the spendaholics challenge tho. spent £25 online with Bliss Spa today. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: Bargains tho - four items reduced to £5 each. EEEK!!!

    LC, faced with bargains like that I would have been straight in there, it is too easy online isn't it. You know that gamblers can get software that blocks gambling sites for them, someone should sort it for clothes, shoes bags and toiletries.

    Ebay challenge going OK (well apart from a crazy ebay paypal mismatch but I am sure it will sort itself out and I will get my hands on the money sometime (just spent a very long time on the phone to paypal with a woman who just talked at me and over the top of me so it took a lot longer than it should have done - sigh). Not sure how much I made but probably £20ish, although most of it should have gone for more than it did.

    Well done for making £25 (even if you did squander it straight away ;))

    Oh hang on, I have a cunning ebay/spendaholic offset challenge: anything that you spend against your spendaholic pledge comes off your ebay challenge total so you have to work even harder at ebay. I might start that from next month to keep me on the straight and narrow.

    No compulsive spends so far:j I have also resisted the great temptation of the free Lancome bag at Boots. I don't really need it. I have been on dot com and had my basket filled to the tune of £61. I then looked at it all again and decided that although it would be nice I just don't need any of it. So I emptied my basket. A first for me:beer: I want to be able to buy things when I actually need them and to actually run out of something would be an achievement:o

    is stunned
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • It's when I am out I have the problem. I was out on Saturday and Sunday this week. I spent £90 on Saturday, and £30 on Sunday. Bad even by my standards.

    Got to say this thread is great! Saturday was a bit of a revalation for me as far as my spendaholic status is concerned! Have been feeling low anyway since splitting up with my OH in Dec last year - He had 2 youngest kids at the weekend so house unusually quiet. I took the cat to the vet and she had to be put down (didn't come as a surprise as should have done it for a while but couldn't cope with it!) Afterwards all I wanted to do was go shopping!!!!! Didn't need or want anything but felt a need to spend money on anything to make myself feel better (in the past I might have settled for a bar of chocolate but as appetite has gone and stomach bad due to stress, food doesn't work as a comfort anymore!) and when I have the younger kids I avoid shopping like the plague cos it's such hard work!
    Ended up going home and staying in bed all afternoon feeling s***!!!!!
    I suddenly realised that the reson I am in debt is cos I spend to make myself feel better!!!!!!
  • Oh my goodness me, what an eventful few days!

    Once again, I haven't been keeping up with things and there are far too many posts to reply to individually. So, just to say;

    Newbies, welcome to the thread - and you really are very welcome! I started this thread to try and help myself out of the compulsive spending circle, and I am so glad that I am not alone. I will allocate new numbers at some point this week, so keep checking on the first post for yours.

    Oldies, sounds like we're doing ok on our March challenges (but then we are only four days in!!!). I'm doing good, have fought and resisted temptation on three or four occasions to buy my DD anything, so am quite proud of myself. Also, for the past two days I've left my switch card at home. I spent nothing yesterday, and with the few pounds I've got in my purse I shall top up my school lunch fund!
    At the moment I feel like I'm beginning to turn a corner. The urge to spend is still very much there, but now I'm more concerned about having money at the end of the month in my bank account. Also got a bit of cash coming in too, I've started selling my old books on Amazon, and have got £20 coming this week, I've also got £23 in Quidco earnings waiting to be paid.

    On the whole, I'm feeling pretty good!

    To all those that have fallen on the wagon, shame on you (:p )! Only joking, I am definitely not in a place to criticise (let he who is without sin . . .). I know how tough it is to resist the urge to spend, but I really hope that we can make a difference to each others' lives though this thread.

    Morning, by the way!
