Im definately part of this gang
My financial situation is ok these days but it wasnt always the case (My partner and I went bankrupt 10 years ago).
I impulse buy for many of the same reasons the majority do - lack of self esteem. I believe ,laughably, that if i have a £450 watch on that i am seen to be successfull and that i am "better" than others. Its ridiculous but i have had the following obsessions:-
Gambling - Lost 15k (lost 2.5k on one race, but somehow it felt like i was a somebody handing over all that money, money that wasnt mine!)
Clothes - Only the best was good enough, Boss, Armani and Dolce and Gabbana etc etc.
Hi-Fi's - Had a 2k system, and 400 cd's too.
ALL of the above were bought whilst i worked in a gas station earning £100 per week!, In some ways i bought these things to make me think i was a somebody, buying high end stuff made me feel great. Until i was 22k in debt.
Im still the same 10 years later - albeit i have a decent job and my purchases are now sustainable. But im still the same person, im still the same guy, i still have the same goals, the same weaknesses's and the same fears. I have no cure - but i now realise we are all the same. I am no better than the people that work for me, i am no more intelligent and i am certainly no better.
If only i knew that when i did work in a gas station and the boot was on the other foot?. Isnt it crazy how some of us percieve someone that works at a fast food joint is of sub standard education? - They arent - we are.0 -

I should aim higher but I know how lazy I am:D. Perhaps I could find a child on my street and pay him or her a pittance for listing for me... Or make my OH do it for me - now that could work and would be free £34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)
