Have listed a couple of things on 'da bay' as i like to call it. I'm going to treat myself to a night watching the Oscars on Sunday - so will take photos of things then. I didn't go out today, but still bought things online. They were all presents for later in the year - and had 60-70% off. To me this is still stupid spending.
I have PMT and am nearly crying - because I have no control over my spending - what a weed.
Hope the rest of you had a better day ;0)
Hey Little Chicken, your a honey!
Don't beat yourself up about it. We all have our vices and that is why we have each joined this thread!
Perhaps yours and our spending was and is not necessary but it can boil down to you feeling unfulfilled and perhaps you are spending money to make yourself feel better.
What I like to do is pamper myself at home a little if its that dreaded week of PMT, i'd have a nice bath, give myself a facial, do my nails and relax with a nice glass of wine in front of a girlie flick (my bad taste lol).
You may need some TLC instead of feeling bad
(I really fancy a nice bath now lol :rotfl: )

Wow, this post really resonates with me. I know that I have a problem with spending and I have no idea where it stems from. I had a happy childhood, wasn't spoilt but certainly wasn't deprived. Maybe it's a case of keeping up with the Jones'- not sure really but when the chips are down I just get the plastic out, either online or in a shop.
My biggest problem is toiletries and cosmetics. I have a huge cardboard box in my lounge of Clarins, Clinique, Boots No 7, Elizabeth Arden etc..... I just love the buzz of buying it in big department stores from posh counters and I particularly love the freebies that you get. I do use some of this stuff, but only a few core items- the rest is just impulse buys. I do shift loads of it on eBay, and sometimes can make back quite a bit of the cost, but I do realise that this is not healthy.
I also really believe that reading glossy magazines makes my desire to splurge so much worse. I see the latest cream or lipgloss and I just have to have it. I try not to read too many glossies anymore or stick to food magazines which don't lead me to temptation.
Anyway, sorry for the ramble but I think putting it in black and white has helped, and having just been paid I pledge that I buy nothing in Boots (my biggest temptation) this month, just to see if I can do it!

Hi Lucy,
I know what you mean. Have you considered when you feel like that splurge to perhaps (if you have the money) getting a facial or your nails done. That may be a bit cheaper and if you anything like me you'll feel so much happier with those results. I really think we all need a bit of me time sometimes

Same here.
I am not so bad as I used to be(had it really bad for Clarins) I started to sell Avon, which has meant for the last year or so I have forced myself to use their stuff which can be good as I get a discount and freebies and sometimes make money or get my stuff for free. I still have a storage box under my bed and a drawer full of stuff. God knows what i was thinking.
I think its because I used to be close friends with a girl who earned WAY more then me, and we used to shopt together. she 'd buy I'd buy.
seems silly now.Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
Guilty as charged!
I'm terrible with spending money! I think there are moments where I feel I just have to go out and buy something to 'entertain' me...unfortunately my current work-life balance doesn't let me take up a regular sport or anything that would otherwise distract me!LTSB CC: £7,027.05 :eek:Debt (at peak) on 19/07/08: £9,127.05
