    Hi guys,

Something I have started doing to save spending my incoming money is selling things I don't need/use on ebay and then using the profit for treats and little pressies for ourselves.

With items i've sold I bought my partner and myself a PS3 game for Valentines and I sold two rings I didn't wear yesterday and bought myself a bargain 12mp camcorder (£52 in P&P brand new).

What I find best about what i've started doing is that one, I have not missed any of the items i've sold, two, with a little work on ebay I have managed to buy a few bargains and three, a few of my items have sold for more than I originally paid.

My Challenge at the moment is to make money for my Birthday trip to Dublin next month rather than getting into any more debt for it and for me its proving to be very satisying.

Good work lady. I REALLY need to get listing on ebay. I'm over-run with stuff.:o

    Hi Little Chicken,

I've been playing with ebay for about a month now. It's a little bit of work sometimes keeping on top of things but I am so chuffed i'm selling my perhaps impulse buys and buying new things I need/want without spending a penny. I find it quite rewarding.

If your really interested in ebay, something i've been keeping an eye on is the wholesale category. You can get some real bargains which you can go on to sell at a profit.

The idea of profit sounds good to me lol.

I've kicked my compulsive spending habit. The last compulsive thing I did before I had my lightbulb moment was go on a day trip to France two weeks ago to stock up on cheap booze and cigarettes. Needless to say once I actually got there, I hardly spent anything, got one bottle of wine and five packs of cigarettes, that was it. Saw a nice handbag, didn't buy it, had the cheapest thing on the menu in the cafe I stopped at for lunch, took the bus instead of a taxi even though I don't speak French, walked a heck of a lot more than I do in this country and it was after that I returned to the UK with about £100 left, having gone out with about £150. Usually £150 would be gone in a day and I'd be skint for the next fortnight until my next lot of money came in. But I managed to save that £150 and only bought things I needed until Tuesday this week when I had to buy meat and other condiments for my meals this week.

    I talk too much don't I? lol
  • I couldn't as unfortunatly they don't have and 'Office' in my town. I suspect I'll keep one pair if they fit for the pub job and I'll most likely send the other pair back.

God I feel really stupid now.

    No need to feel silly,

I used to work in pub and you do need a good comfy pair of shoes. For the money it may cost to send the other pair back you may as well keep them as your bargain pub shoes, they will last you then and you'll have a variety to wear :)

  • The pair i've got now are comfy but they don't have any grips on the bottom and the floor in the kitchen is tiled and when its wet very very slippery. The amount of people that have fallen over in the kitchen over the years is huge.

I think the ones I've bought have some grip on the bottom which will make my life easier and so i don't look so much like a pleb walking through to the dish washer to dump dirty plates!

He he, I know that feeling. These shoes may techically be a very good buy then. You'll have two pairs that will last a while and also stop you from breaking your neck in the kitchen :)

  • I'd say the shoes were an investment in this case t.m.d.!

No compulsive spending for me again today, but again that's only because I've got no money! Just you wait til payday, it'll be a whole different story. I shall be on here every five minutes when the internet shopping demons rear their ugly heads  .

I like the idea of being 'ebay neutral', trouble is, I don't know who'd want to buy my unwanted rubbish!! I have a huge pile of my daughter's old clothes at the minute from Mothercare, Next, and George at Asda (classy!), all in A1 condition (I've also got a huge pile that aren't so good!). Do kids clothes sell well on ebay? What about baby bottles (wihout teats)? I've got a cold-water steriliser as well. In fact, I've got shed loads of stuff I could get rid of, I just don't know who'd buy it!

  • *sighs* I've just bought something. I know when I get them I'll send them back so I'm not too worried and it was two pairs of shoes for a tenner plus £3.50 postage.

*runs and hides away from people who will shout*

BUT at least I told you?!

I am so sorry, I was just so suprised to see they sold shoes, I wish I'd nver said anything now. I am partly to blame for your spending there.

    mind you good price............

    sorry again

    xx
