TMobile Web'n'Walk USB broadband

  • I have an N95 with Web & Walk Plus upgrade, essentially the same service as on here. Whilst T-Mobile is great for voice & text their broadband is starting to let them down. Every now and then I get the problems mentioned on this forum. I am in a good signal area and even at low bandwidth times I get timeouts.

I find opening a comand prompt and chucking a continuous ping (ping -t) at a site helps (I use bbc.co.uk) but even then it bombs out when watching videos etc. when this happens T-Mobile seem to block all packets. My pings stop and I have to disconnect / reconnect to start again.

I think I'm lucky. Because I requested the upgrade as an addition to my package I can take it away, but I feel the frustration of you all locked into a contract on this.

I'm calling them today. I'll post up my news

My 18 month contract on Web 'n' Walk at £29/month is going to end shortly. Has anyone been offered any retention deals? I am presuming at the very least my monthly rental would be reduced to £15/month as this is the current price (excluding any "free" laptops/phones/bathroom suites and the like) - but I would be unlikely to take this.

Has anyone been offered anything different. I will hardly be using it soon so would opt for some opportunity to transfer onto the pay-per-day option. Anyone done this?

I was about to go for the T Mobile free laptop, unlimited mobile broadband for #30 month offer but you could check your coverage by postcode. My work address comes up as excellent, but home as not yet available.

What does this mean? How can it be if wifi access is included? Surely it shuold erm work anywhere?

By tehway i have BT bb at home already, i need mobile bb as i moderate a couple of forums, & i'd have wanted to use it on the bus etc!

I know i'm a twerp but can anyone enlighten me?

It's a bit like a mobile phone some places get covarage some place don't they probably waiting to expand their network so your area maybe included later on.

Only thing I could suggest is email or visit a T-mobile shop to find out why the coverage is not in you area at the moment.

You could look at other mobile broadbands such as o2 to see if they are in your area just to compair.

    Good luck with your search.

Thanks guys i found an adjacent postcode described as having excellent coverage, so maybe i just need to clarify. it might be a mistake!

They say it's unlimited usage but then in small print that there's a 3GB fair use threshold beyond which they won't charge but may restrict in the future.

Is 3GB enough for a couple of hours a day on web based email & yahoo groups do you know? I'm after the mobile capability to allow me to manage this kind of stuff [voluntary job] on the move & in breaks at work.

    Cheers

after 6 months of no service from t mobile I have issued an offical letter of complaint and as I know that they will not end my contract I have offered a 'resolution' to them, I will pay for the service they provide, which I figure should be around £0.01 per month - I can then buy myself out of the contract for 16p!!
Fair price for a non existant service I think!

    Hi Mel,

Depends on what your going to do with your connection if your downloading loads of large files then you may go over the 3GB's if your just surfing and doing emails then I would doubt you will go over.
    Kind Regards

  • I sent them another letter, including some of the problems being experienced here, which is similar to the ones i am experiencing as well, which of course they disregard. I told t-mobile i would be happy to do s survey finding out the problems other people are having. I am asking other with web n walk problems to write to t-mobile. I have done two investigation with them, as they were trying to solve the problems but they couldnt.
