Just asked about the 810i and they said it was available but wasn't free on the tariff they were offering me (obviously I've not been there long enough).
Out of interest, the o2 person also said that she felt the 810i was worse than the 750i because unlike the 750i it doesn't have a lens cover but is otherwise essentially the same phone. Does this sound right or was I just being put off it?
They do try so hard not to give you the PAC code, bless their little cottons...0 -

you need to have a good deal from another network or phone shop for them to match or beat for your best chance of getting the best deal for your call spend off 02 as well as threatening to leave imo.
so do a bit of homework before you ring them up and have a offer then they will be more likely to offer you a half price tariff
Cheers

Well my contract finished last week, but I want to wait for the fancy-pants Sony K800i comes out before I upgrade (it's like a k750, but 3G and a 3.2mp camera) so I asked to be put on their SIM only tarrif of Offpeak 500.. now for 25 quid a month i get 1000 offpeak X-net phonecalls and 1000 texts.
Do you think when I call for an upgrade in a month or 2 they'll be able to do that contract but cheaper?0 -

Bad form to reply to my own post - but having phoned up twice yesterday and been offered different incentives to stay, I just phoned up this morning and was just given the code with no hesitation! Am not bothered as it would have taken something special to keep me (they've been overbilling me each month so I've been having to e-mail to request a refund) but am shocked that they gave in so easily.0 -
IMO it helps to speak to the right person...if you don't get what you want the first time, then ring again and speak to someone else.
Don't bother with normal Customer Services, go straight through to cancellations and request your PAC. Let them ask you why you're leaving, say you've seen some far better deals available elsewhere at the moment. They'll ask what have you saw...it helps if you've done your homework and can quote a deal. They don't like people going to 3 so that's what I used. They will then likely match that offer...you can then negotiate regarding handset if you wish.
I think that what they will offer you depends on your previous spend. That's why some get handsets free and others have to pay. I myself had 02 25 (25 mins + 25 texts) for £16 p/m and rarely spend more than about £17 p/m. They offered me 02 100 (100 mins + 100 texts) for £15 on a 12 month contract. I mentioned a handset and they said I could have the K750i for free but I'd have to pay for a W810i. They originally wanted £89.99 but I got them down to £39.99...they wouldn't go any lower than that.
Now, I'm starting to think that these particular handsets are in short supply and if you've paid you seem to get priority over those that got them offered free.0 -
I spoke O2 retentions yesterday evening after spending a hour or so online looking at other providers websites and visiting the O2 phone shop to look at handsets. After asking how long it would take to cancel my contract as I wanted to move to T-mobile, I was offered 250 mins and 100 texts for half price (£15pm) with 100 'loyalty' texts and a free Motorola Pebble.
If it hadn't been for this thread I wouldn't have thought about doing this or had the courage, so a huge thanks.2007 comping challenge - Won £25 / need £1040 -
Well i know so far that i have a w810 ordered but am unsure as to what tariff i will be going onto now!
Originally it was 750 mins and 750 texts for £20 and the phone for free...however as the order went through for the phone i checked on the tariff and was told it would be for 18 months. Then i said i didn't want that so she said i would have £15 off my current line rental. This would mean theoretically i am going to have 400 mins and 1000 texts for £15, but am not sure as this was already a discounted tariff.
She said that i would have this for £15 but i am not sure to be truthful whether she just said yes without actually doing it. It seemed very quick!
Should i send an email to that custmoer service guy to confirm?0 -
Now offered 200xnet/200 texts for £15p/m and the N80 for £600
