O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750

I pay £35 a month. No way I will use up all the minutes, however texts I will -- Yes self confessed text-a-holic.
I used to pay 02 £35 for 200 minutes & 500 texts.
That is pretty good - not sure how many minutes you do use, but if it is under 600 you might have been better off on the online 25 tariff with unlimited (up to 3000) text messages (£25 pm, 600 mins and 'unlimited' texts). You could save a tenner a month if you really don't go over 600 mins a month, plus you still get all your texts. As a retention deal I'd also try to see if there was any discount on the £25 pm as that is the price for new customers! Plus I think it is one of those 30 day notice contracts so you can change tariffs fairly quickly if need be.
The deal you did get is good though - I'd be happy to pay £35 for 3000 mins and 3000 texts, we'd go through those minutes quite easily! I'm pleased with the deal I got though, as the long weekends talk is really making our standard inclusive 800 minutes go further.0 -
I agree - I will just have to make sure I use the minutes! There are a few things I dislike with O2 -
- the numpty advisors - who believe like robots... do they ever listen.
- the only way to sort something out with O2 is write a letter... on the way to get the deal I bagged £125 credit and a blue tooth headset aswell!
Will agree about the advisors - although we have had some good ones. We originally phoned for our PAC to move to Tmobile flext 35 when they were doing the free evenings and weekends in August and that is when they offered us that deal although we did have a few headaches along the way.
And well done on getting the credit too - if that is on top of the N95 on your £25 pm deal then that is a great deal. They would only offer me a £100 credit if I agreed a no handset deal, but we needed a new phone and were keen on the N95.0 -
Called up 02 2day.
renewed my contract, think i got a great deal.
got a samsung G600
1000xnet mins + rolover
500 txt
for £25
am quite please :j..altho maybe i could have got more mins0 -
Coming from the Discount 500 tariff with 500 x-net mins and 500 texts for £20 (plus E900) on a 12 month contract, I was quite wary of getting a new line because it seems these days that every operator wants to put you on at least £30 per month for anything.
To cut a long story short, I am pretty happy with paying £20 per month and I got:
Samsung G600 (free)
400 x-net anytime minutes, 500 texts (£10 discount off the usual line rental)
O2 Web Max unlimited data (actually fair usage of 200Mb) (free)
...but on an 18 month contract. For a 12 month contract, I was told that it was minimum of £25 minus the web max deal.
Would have liked to stayed on a 12 month contract, but it seemed that they wouldn't budge at all from £25 per month. Plus I do like the data allowance - much better than the measly 100Kb (yes, kilobytes) allowed before.
I did have to call in twice though and it was unusual because this year I've had no one harrassing me to renew my contract at all.0 -
hi,
I am coming to the end of contract, they offered me the K850 for £40 on my current contract-£35 per month for 200mins and 100 texts.
can I do better please? would love to get phone for free and if possible lower the monthly rental. I don't want to go to 18 month contract though.
Any one help please?0 -
I think you should be able to do better sneaker. Try again and this time say its not good enough and could they please give you your pac code.
I have just done this and accepted a free k850i with 400 mins and 100 texts for £15 a month. It is on an 18 month contract, but a top phone and plenty of call time makes up for it. I'm Happy.
(I have been with 02 for about 8 years, and last year had 500 mins and 100 texts for £17.50)True Friends Are Hard To Find, Harder To Leave And Impossible To Forget.0 -
thanks, I left O2 for a year though the year before last before that I was with them 8 years.
Am I being ambitious in aiming for the phone free, £30 a month for 400 mins and 1000 texts (which appears to be their online £5 a month tarriff?)
Thanks.0 -
on phone now. got the phone for free and changed to the online 12 month tariff of 400 mins and 1000 texts. :-)0

Sneaker, like Blueshark, I also think you could do better - what they are offering you is actually a poor show. You could do better as a new customer. Makes me think I was quite lucky with the deal I got - but it just so happened my contract came to an end in mid September and I think they were going through a week of heavy cancellations due to the 0870 thing, perhaps they are not being too generous now?
If you are happy to be tied into an 18 month contract you might get a better deal with long weekends - I still say £30 for a new phone and 400 mins/1000 texts is not very generous on their part - I'd want that with the long weekends for no more than £20 pm (perhaps I'm being too ambitious!). I think it does depend on who you get on the other side but you can only ask. If you ask for your PAC, they usually get a little more generous. Good luck!0
