what i really want is 200/500 for £15 per month 12mnths and free u600 - reckon i should keep pushing? this is my 1st call to retentions......

my partner managed a free U600 with 500mins 100txt and 100kb per month for £17.50 i called the next day and the only deal i was offered was £20 per month for 200mins and 50txt ....so my advice keep trying!

    hi, I've just been offered 500/500 £25 18mths with a free u600, or 200/500 £20 12mths with free u600..

what i really want is 200/500 for £15 per month 12mnths and free u600 - reckon i should keep pushing? this is my 1st call to retentions......

Just to update anyone interested - i rang retentions again yesterday to see if they'd budge on the above offer.

The guy I spoke to reckoned that each customer, depending on their last six months of spending with them, is allocated a specific amount for discount and the operators can offer this is many different conotations.

For example, if I wanted a cheaper phone than the u600 I could have my 200 mins 500 texts for £15 per month, but seeing as the u600 is new to the market and costs more, they are unable to offer me that tariff with the phone for free.

This makes sense to me and so I'm tempted just to either accept their offer, or choose an older phone and have my monthly outgoings £5 less per month.

Don't know if anyone has anything else they can add to this?

ok, another quick update! I decided to go for the 200mins/500txt for £20, with free U600 option. When I rang to accept this morning they nearly didn't give it to me. The guy explained that apparently 02 will make a loss as the phone is so expensive.

my advice to everyone is to try at weekends for the better retention deals - every time I've tried and had a good offer, it's been on a weekend.....

I'm pleased to get what I got anyway.....

    Thanks for all these updates!

I would definetly go for that deal if I was offered it! I called retentions a couple of weeks ago and they never mentioned 12 month contracts- they were incredibly tight on the monthl charge a so I thought there was no point in asking for a 12 month contract as I though we were all being switched to 18 month contracts. Can I ask did you specifically say you only wanted a 12 month contract and do you think I have a chance of getting the same deal (I have been on my first year with o2 on a 12 month contract pay £30/month )

    Thanks again!

got an offer yesterday, was on anytime 500 min + 100 txt paying £17.50 ( discount 500), been offered £28 per month (20% off on the normal £35 tariff), and N95 for £90.
is it a good deal? should i accept it?

p.s. N95 is out of stock at the moment./

Hiya, I think the first time I rang (when I spoke to upgrades) i said I wanted a 12 month contract, but every time they've offered an 18 month one as well. I've just stuck to my guns on that really - my boyfriend will be in the same boat as you next year and will be due his first upgrade and I'll be negotiating hard for him as well, so don't let the fact you've been with them just one year affect anything...

I think what I was told sounds correct - that based on your past 6 months spending, the operators have a set amount they can discount - in various conotations. It's like last year I got 200mins 500 texts for £15 per month but got charged £50 for the phone. It's almost identical to this year where they want £20 a month for the same tariff with the phone free - they get the same amount of money from me just in a different way...

my advice would be to note your response from upgrades, then call retentions on a Saturday and ask what they can do. Explain you want to remain on a 12 month contract and see what they say....

I don't think thats a good deal at all compared to what you were on, which isthe same deal I have atm, I wouldn't take that offer, I would go for the same mins and txt you are on again for the same £17.50 and try and get the phone for as cheap as possible

    Cheers

Am on O2 online so rung up cancellation department, dont bother with upgrades as the book stops with the retention department.

I stated I wanted a free small in size phone on a twelve month contract and a good deal on both minutes and text.

was offered a SE 880 and 500 minutes x network with 500 text messages for £25 so have got a ten pound monthly reduction on current contract.

Anyone else got offered simliar or better.

    Regards
