Thanks all for this excellent thread. Just called O2 having read through and familiarised myself with the deals.
Initially offered 500 mins, 500 texts, £25 per month, 18 month contract.
Called back, got 500 mins 500 texts, £20 per month, 12 month contract and a free K800i.
Was originally told that 500/500/12/k800i was a special deal for online customers, and I was an instore customer. So I just said 'well, can you do the deal or not', and they said yep!
Get in! I love this site:beer:

My wife phoned O2 a couple of weeks ago and asked how she goes about disconnecting as her contract was due to expire. the guy on the other end offered her 50 texts and 50 minutes for £10 a month if she didn't have a new phone. She said she'd think about it. About half an hour later she phoned back to tell them whereh they could put the offer and she was offered 200 minutes and 200 texts for the equivalent of £6 a month (no new phone). As she was happy with her phone she took the offer. Maybe if she'd tried harder she could have gt a better deal but she was more than happy with it.0

Hi Holiday,
I have just renegotiated my contract with O2, too.
All I did was sift through this thread (focusing mainly on the latest posts, for most current offers) and work out what deals people were generally getting with O2. Today I got a text from O2 telling me to call 0800 0852717 as my upgrade was due.
The first time I called, I told them I had seen better deals, so they offered a free K800i and 500 mins / 500 texts on 18 months.
I called back about an hour later, told them my friend had been offered 500/500 12 months and a K800i, a bit of chit-chat and hey presto!, they matched the deal.
My advice is, read through and look at the deals, work out what is best for you, scour the net for competing offers and then call up O2 armed with comparative offers for them to beat.
When you do call up, be patient, don't get excited and keep pushing them to see what you can squeeze out of them. When you're happy, go for it!
Good luck

200 mins and 200 texts for £6 a month is a pretty good deal. I doubt orange would offer me anything like that when my 18 month contract comes to an end...."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

OK, first skirmish with O2 resulted in 500 Anytime plus 500 text for £25/month plus a K610i or a Nokia 6111.
If no phone required then £100 credit to account.
I presume the K610i is not as up to date as K800i?
How does this seem to folks? It is certainly much better than present contract.Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.0 -
I asked my mate to send an email to Peter Erskine and he did last night, today he got a call and they offered him 750mins and 750 texts and the D900 for free.
Thanks to those who have recommended sending him an email as it worked like a treat for my mate.0 -
Hi All,
Just thought i'd tell you about my current situation.
I took out a 12 month contract with O2 at Phones 4U last October. It was £16 per month for 25 minutes and 25 texts plus a free Panasonic(X700?) I got £100 cashback(no problems). I am a very light user, and i've just worked out that i only averaged £17.40 per month over the last year. I received a call from O2 on Wednesday 13th , but I couldn't talk to them as I was at work, so I called them this morning. I asked them what they could offer me and this is it:
50 minutes + 25 texts
a choice of Samsung 5401i
Nokia 5140i
O2 ice
Sony Ericson W300i
Motorola L7 or U6
or if I don't want any of these, £100 cash back
For £20 per month for 12 months.
Having read the previous posters on this thread, I will obviously not be taking up their offer. In all honesty, I don't need the contract anymore, and do not need a new handset, but would not mind keeping the number because i've given it to people who I can ignore if need be, without them having my landline number. Is their any chance of me getting a contract paying nothing/next to nothing from O2 or would it best to port the number to an old sim that I've got gathering dust in a drawer?
Any advice gladly accepted.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -

You can register with them as a business. The tariffs are the same but you get extra perks like high capacity voicemail and free itemised billing.0 -

I was offered your first contract with a £10 monthly discount and £100 credit for not having a new phone so it worked out at £72 for the year (£6 x 12) so there's £28 credit left over at the end!
You can ask for an extra 100 texts as well (say you'd prefer a bit more texts or something like that)0
