Do not NEED a new phone but happy to have one. What is the number to contact O2 direct to see about a deal as new customer? and can someone be kind enough to briefly outline the benefits of the K800i (what make is that by the way?) as that phone seems to be popular. Thanks in advance for any help.:T
You could try doing what i did last year for my new 02 contract.I ordered the phone then a couple of days later i phoned retentions to say that id seen i better deal on three etc etc and i wanted to cancel(you still have 7 days to cancel). It worked and the lady instantly offered me the online 200 contract 200 mins and 500 texts for £15 per month on a twelve month deal.So it might be worth trying the same as nothing to lose really because you could start a new contract straight away afterwards even if they call your bluff.0 -
Rang up o2 to upgrade today - not only did I not get any discount whatsoever, they first of all told me that the phone I want would cost me £100 (K800i), they told me I'd be better off going to a shop where my tariff would matter in terms of what phone I'd get (o2 250). I was told that my monthly spend wasn't high enough (£50+ in the last 3 months) and that I would have to spend £51+ for 6 months running (only less than that amount in 2 out of the last 6 mths and even then it was £30+) in order to get the k800i free.0

You called and asked to upgrade? What about using the tactic of calling to cancel/get your PAC code? Do this and you'll be referred to retentions (ergo the thread title) where you'll be in a stronger position to get a better deal. Good luck!0 -

Tried that and they sent me my pac code within 3days via text message...
I've spent over £400 this year in bills with o2, I can't believe they won't offer me anything - not even a free (decent) phone on a standard deal. All I can get is stuff like the L7 free on upgrade on a normal tariff0 -

I'm new to this forum, I was reading everyones threads yesterday and thought I would give O2 a call to see what deal they could offer me.
I currently have an old genie sim which I get 500 free texts and 500 mins (off peak to any landline and only other O2 mobiles) for £15 per month. I've been with O2 for years.
At first I thought O2 weren't going to offer me anything good until I said I had seen 300 mins and 750 texts on the online shop which was closer to what I wanted. After the guy spent sometime looking he finally came back with a deal of 500 x net anytime mins and 800 texts with free Samsung E900 (when in stock) on a 12 month contract for £20 a month!
I think it's a great deal, I was hoping to get it down to £15 pm and a free bluetooth headset, but there was no budging him!
Never mind, I suppose I was pushing my luck. I need to wait until the E900 is in stock before I can change over, the guy promised to put all the details of the offer on my account notes for when I ring back.
Thanks for all the info in the previous threads that helped me get a fantastic deal!

Just to let everyone know, the samsung e900 is back in stock with O2, I received a text before to ring them to get the deal I quoted above.
They gave me £180 credit on my account because they could not discount the £35 line rental to £20 as quoted by retentions.

Thanks for the heads-up, callled and did my upgrade just now to the E900.
So, they've confirmed:
1000 xnet mins and 500 sms for months 1-6
500 xnet mins and 400 sms for months 7-12
£20 / month with free Samsung E900.
