Ok, recently we decided to switch providers from Tesco to Tiscali. We finally got around to doing this yesterday and was told it would take up until almost the end of this month. We were fine with that as we are paid up with Tesco til that time.
I the awoke this morning to NO internet! My partner then made several calls between Tesco and Tiscali and was told various different things, but it seems that Tiscali..as well as telling us a few fibs at first..have put a tag on the line and are waiting for bt to finish it's job of connecting it...I think I have that right.
Ok well first off, I am furious that Tesco has been cut off this quickly when we had paid up in advance, and that even though Tiscali has taken over, we still have to wait at least up until the 13th - 15th, to be able to get online! I want to stop all this right now and just stay with Tesco, but they said that as Tiscali has used the mac code, it will probably take up to 30 days to switch back! I never thought it would prove this much stress to switch providers and apart from the aboslutely useless help we've had this morning off Tiscali, plus reading all the bad reviews here, I just want out but my partner is worried that he'll get charged anyway, as we're already in a contract with them but isn't there a cooling off period where we can cancel?
I am currently on my neighbour's pc.

Any advice will be most welcome.

I have a series of problems
1.When I inquired about an upgrade they sitched me to their line rental and notified BT of the same
2.They sent me a wireless router as my modem was faulty, even though I stressed that I did not want it as it would tie me to a further year contract.
3.They billed me for Norton Internet Security which I neither requested nor received.
4.It take s 4seconds to access their freephone for sales and its impossible to get throught o customer services and you are fleeced when kept on hold for ages.
5.Do not reply to emails

They are competitive on price but aftersales service is -100!

Officially there's an 8 working days cooling off period:

If you subscribe online or over the phone you have the right to cancel your contract for Tiscali within 8 working days of the date of your Tiscali Agreement, [...] (A working day is any day except Saturday, Sunday or a UK bank holiday).

If you wish to cancel, prior to installation, you should contact Customer Care on 0845 678 3333. If you cancel, as set out above, then you will not have to make any payments for Tiscali and we will refund any pre-paid charges.

If you're outside the cooling off period, keep calling until they cancel your order, just like this poster did here. They have provided you with no service, so you have a right to cancel and get any money you have paid back. Any 'cooling off period' when you have received no service from them would very likely be unenforceable in a court of law.

I signed up for tiscali couple of weeks ago got the kit in the post a few days late, no big deal really. However..... the wireless router won't work wirelessly! I phoned them, emailed them repeatedly and still nothing, its a siemens gigaset, this installation programme asks for the WPA code which I typed in accurately a number of times but remains unrecognised - Any advice welcome
• Send off an email to complaints@uk.tiscali.com

or a letter to Tiscali UK's head office via Recorded Signed For post (which costs just 70p plus First or Second Class postage) to:

Tiscali UK Limited
20 Broadwick Street
London
W1F 8HT
Company No. 03408171

Fully outline your concerns and complaints. If they haven't replied within 7 days of receipt (this is the time frame set in Tiscali's own Terms & Conditions), escalate your complaint to ISPA (Internet Services Providers' Association):
http://www.ispa.org.uk/

That should make Tiscali listen. See this post on the Tiscali forums for a working example.

Hope this helps. :)

I hope I don't seem like Im pointing out the obvious, but are you sure you have got the code correct? I tried numerous times to put in my WAP code, acurately , as I thought, I eventually discovered that I was reading a zero as a D. This was because I was reading it from the bottom of the modem and it was so small. ( and I desperately need new glasses ) Fortunately I found a piece of paper in the bottom of the packaging with the number in large print, before I phoned the helpline.
