Well I signed up for £19.95 free line rental, broadband, any time calls, and they still keep charging extra for line rental, and give the money back after complaints.(Since September 2007)
They try to correct the bill but still keep charging wrongly.
I think they are out of control!!
Last week the phone started playing up,and I read that if I complain, they will tell you to contact bt,and they probably laugh, saying your with Tiscali.0 -
I feel that I must warn other users not to be tempted by Tiscalis promotions.
Originally ordered Broadband & Phone on the 3rd Jan 08. Was told it would be maximum of 14 days.
Never received the FREE wireless router or welcome pack.
Phoned to complain and was told all would be in place before the 25th February.
Yesterday, no broadband, no router or welcome pack! Phoned to be told our order had been cancelled due to technicial problems!!!
Disgusting customer services and I would advise to avoid Tiscali at all costs.0 -
Think yourself quite lucky then - At least you're not tied into a contract with them.
They've been having loads of problems - basically people not getting connected is the biggest problem.
I am with Tiscali and all seemed ok until maybe 6-8 months ago. Sometimes the net seems very slow - pages not responding, etc. If you disconnect and reconnect it usually does the trick, but sometimes it just wont connect at all (reports error 718, 721, etc). That I've found often lasts for at least a couple of hours. Hardly exactly useful. People pay for a broadband connection because they expect it to be quick and more importantly they expect to be able to connect to the internet when they want.
The not connecting problems seems to have been happening to me every few weeks since about 6/8 months ago and I know of others who have reported it happening even more frequently.
Thankfully for me I'm not tied into the initial contract with them, but know of others who are. I will stay with them for now though as I'm moving house shortly, so will just cancel when we move and choose a new provider for the new house.
Just who to pick? - Quite a few to avoid....0 -
another lucky escape! plenty of decent isps out there, general rule, if you've seen them advertised on TV, avoid (the 1 exception LLU from sky (not sky connect))Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

I had loads of problems with Tiscally, a few years ago, I eventually stopped the direct debit, they got in touch pronto, but only to say I was in debt, a long story but i eventually got in touch with Oftel, they too were having trouble with them, because Tiscally said they were'nt recieving their letters, well I had just been through all that and told them so.
Not long after I recieved an apology from the serious complaints department of Tiscally with a cheque for £30 for the distress caused.
I nearly went back at them for the phone calls but decided not to push my luck.0 -
We are just leaving Tiscali. Last year the router they sent broke and I phoned them up and they said they would send a new one, it didnt arrive, phoned them again, no record of me phoning before and someone else said they would send a new one. That didnt arrive and by then we had been without broadband for 10 days, my son was so fed up he bought a router, still waiting for Tiscalis. Last week we had no broadband one day, phoned them up and got a message saying they were having problems and most of their customers were unable to connect, was told to hold and someone would update me as to how long it might be off. While on hold got another message saying that as their phone lines were really busy I might find the answer to my question on their website, shouted down the phone to the music playing "how do I do that with no f***ing internet". After waiting ages finally spoke to a man who said they had no idea how long we would be off for, could be an hour, could be 48 hours, told me to have a wonderful day and cut me off before I had chance to tell him exactly why I wouldnt be having a wonderful day. :mad:0

It might not be the right time to sign up with Tiscali or associated companies, more news at : http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/02/27/tomasso_tiscali_selloff/0

Hi,
I'm just posting this on behalf of my neighbour, who is with tiscali and hasn't had internet access for 3 weeks (maybe an hour every 2-3 days if she's lucky!). Anyway she told them that she wanted a mac code to enable her to go to another provider and she was told that she had to cancel with them before they provided her with a mac code.
Is this right? Can somebody advise us?0 -
no, that is not right. the isp has a legal obligation to provide a mac, on request, within 5 days (some offer in 10 minutes!) requesting a mac is not a cancellation, this needs to be done separately, the mac is valid for 30 days so it should be possible to arrange for tiscali to stop, and another isp to start, with just day overlap. do a bit of research before signing a new contract.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

I've been quite happy with Pipex, they havent contacted me to advise what options there are, i hate Tiscali after having several problems with them a few years back0
