i have just had a lovely dinner of bacon and cabbage but there is at leaast another portion of it left. i am going away for few days and know it would not keep in fridge but can i put it in tupperware box and freeze for another time?
  • I have frozen cooked bacon before and then used it in carbonara. Cabbage I'm not sure how it would freeze from cooked though.

  • It seems you have nothing to loose by trying... I have frozen raw cabbage, and pickled cabbage, but not cooked.

Freeze, freeze, freeze. Defrost and add to cooked pasta and cream/tomato sauce to make either a bake or just a pasta dinner.

Yes to both. Blanching the cabbage first is recommended - drop in boiling water for a couple of minutes... but it's not really necessary, lots of people freeze it without blanching.

I'll add this to our main Freezing - quick questions thread. (see first post) later.

I wonder if anyone could advise me:

I tend to buy aldi veg & aldi super6 as staple veggies/fruit. Just before the end of a fortnight & just before they change the super6 I will buy extra to use after the offer is finished. Obviously they only stay fresh for a limited time after they've been bought. I was wondering whether I can freeze the veggies to keep them longer& if so, how? Can I freeze raw chopped onions/ Carrots/ Sprouts/ Cabbage without a decline in quality?

    Thanks in advance.
