Yes you can. I bought two cabbages for 10p each in Asda last week. Chopped them, blanched them in boiling water for one minute, cooled and froze them. Carrots the same way. Onions (according to my freezer book) need chopping and blanching for one minute too. Basically you can freeze most veg, but any with a high water content (like Cucumber) don't freeze well. Tomatoes can be frozen, but you can only use them when defrosted for cooking with.
Hope this helps!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

As an alternative to freezing, why not try the special bags which keep vegetables fresh for longer? Lakeland do some called 'stayfresh longer', I've used them and they work very well. I'm sure I've read somewhere on here that you can get something similar from Poundland.0

Hi all
Hope no-one minds me asking? I don't know who to ask and figure you folks are very knowledgable on here!
The smoked salmon at Lidl is usually lovely, most of the time nicer than any of the "finest" ones that I have tried etc. It's also very reasonable currently 2 x 200g Packs= 400g for £5. But it doesn't usually say anything on the packaging about freezing?
Has anyone frozen it before? Is is ok to eat (bit worried about freezing fish that I'm unsure about!) and did it taste ok after?
Thanks!"Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's"

In the past I have frozen smoked salmon with no problem. I have also bought the LIDI smoked salmon and freezed one packet which I think should be ok.0

Several years ago, after New Year, my local Lidl marked their smoked salmon down to 25p per packet. I bought 16 packs, froze them, and it kept me in smoked salmon all year."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0
