I have received confirmation e-mail from EDF that I will be billed on the old rates until the switch goes through:
...As far as the transfer of supply and the schedule of charges are concerned, we will accommodate your needs and the final bill will not be charged on the new prices.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very good luck with your new supplier and if you change your mind, EDF Energy will still be here to offer you a better deal....It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

Might seem like a daft Q BT bud did you email rather than phone to say you were transferring within the 14 days, aser their letter?0 -
Received the tariff details via email from Edf regarding Fixed price till 2010 with EDF Energy.
In short don't bother, tariff's are way too high for me to be worth considering , these will vary by region so never the less worth a check!0 -

I feel like a bit of a muppet, I've never switched
It's odd because I'm really savvy with my money in other areas, spend ages getting insurance quotes, going thru quidco etc.
My dilemma is...
I'm with EDF. I have no idea what tariff I'm onbut I have economy 7. I paid around £1,200 for my Electricity last year (I don't have gas). I've been holding off switching for a few months because I'm getting central heating installed (when I can get a plumber to a) turn up and b) follow it up with a quote).
The central heating will probably be oil so my electricity consumption will go down. Am I right in thinking I should wait before switching as I won't be able to do a fair comparison because my usage will be completely different to previous years figures?
Am I making sense?
thanks in advance

This was a deal that was around in September last year, may be worth giving them a call to see what they wil offer now to keep yopu as a customer.
If you are with edf energy you can probably get a better deal without switching, but they won't tell you unless you ask them.
1 Phone them free on 0800 0969696
2 Press the option number for changing supplier (you will get straight through to a person!)
3 Tell them you are thinking of switching and ask if they have a better tariff. (have your current bill handy)
4 They will offer you a better rate till next September called the "price saver tariff). It has no lock in or penalty for leaving early. Could be for gas, or electricity, or combined.

I too have dual fuel.
New tariff offered is 3.2p per unit (compared with old one of 3.456) up to about 1450 units, then 2.02 (2.174) for gas.
For elec. 12.61 (13.4) and then 7.91 (8.32)
You need to compare your own, I suppose.
Gas first 1465 Units 3.227 then 2.002
Elec First 225 Units 12.47 then 7.50
Valid Until 1st October 2008
Virus,
Thanks for this!!
Just phoned them and spoke to a chap, I also looked at their leaflet that was sent to me with a recent bill and quoted the figures of their and said why were my figures not near to figures quoted on the example bill.
The example Bill showed the Electricity as first 227 at 13.25p then 7.88.
I was being charged fist 1465 at 18.10p then 8.68p
He advised that I was on the cheapest tariff already.
I then asked him what about the price saver tariff and he said he would have a look. He said oh that cheaper and said he woul transfer me onto that tariff straight away.
My New Tariff
Gas first 1465 3.227 then 2.002
Elec First 225 12.47 then 7.50
Valid Until 1st October 20080 -

It will tell you what tariff you are on on your EDF bill.
If you have never switched then you should be able to save quite a considerable sum.
I'd still look at switching today even if your consumption will be lower, if the new provider is cheaper per unit than your current then you'll be saving. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Have decided to try Ebico. I am a low gas user & the price for electric looks competitive enough. Realise a price rise may occur in March when I shall review again; see what EDF v5 looks like.0 -
Well, as the person who started this thread...thought I would let you all know that EDF have switched me from online V3 to V5...not supposed to be possible...but the guys on the ground talked to the manager's manager...and called me back...I was switched!!!
So give it a go everybody...would be interested to hear if anyone else is successful.
I had already initiated the switch to E-on, yesterday, and told EDf that I was leaving...but as it could have been more expensive through the summer...thought I'd try a last ditch plea to EDF. It worked...good luck all0 -

not quite the same email response for me.................
Thank you for your e-mail
I have arranged for your prices to be held at the old rate until we receive notification that you wish to change supplier. If we do not receive this notification within 28 days we will back date the charges at the new increased price.
Kind Regards
