EDF Energy Online customers - BE AWARE!!!

Just spent the last 30 mins comparing alternatives to Edf V3, I live in Manchester.
I have been through all 5 comparison sites listed on MSE, but am given varying amounts by all the sites.
They all give Atlantic as the best saving, so at least they all agree with that, eon next (for both fuels) and ebico next on gas only.
But the savings on dual fuel are between £67-£110.
On gas only the savings are between £70-94
On electric some are giving minus savings against Edf and a few a giving minor savings, the most £18.
Are all the comparison sites using the new figures? Which is the best comparison site to use? Should I only change gas and stick with Edf for electric as most are minimal savings?
Do I get any better cashback going through comparison sites on MSE or Quidco, do you get both amounts of cashback or only one?
PS - just went through quidco the Eon link as I have seen in mentioned and it is saying no savings in the savings column, but then £166 in the total annual discount - does this mean there is a saving or not?
Sorry for all the questions, its so confusing.
Thanks for any comments.0 -
Be careful Atlantic and a few others are not proposing an increase until the start of British Summer Time. There is a thread that states this (its getting difficult to remember where you saw what) .0

I'm another soon to be ex-EDF customer. I e-mailed them at weekend to be told v5 was cheaper option for me but I couldn't have it. They suggested I call CS which I did, but they confirmed V5 not for existing customers.
Didn't try to haggle too much as wasn't worth the hassle. With quidco cashback i should save about £250 changing to E-on.0 -

Hi Tarquinius,
I think that's a very good point - it's great to get the best deal but there's no point spending your whole life searching for it when you can find a very good deal with a lot less fuss.

Well I finally took the plunge today and switched from EDF to Eon - I went through quidco and it tracked fine within half an hour so that's great to start with
I worked out that the Eon prices were actually better for me than the V5 prices anyway even if they'd made an exception and let me move over to that so I'm happy with the deal I've switched to in the end.
I also use Tesco clubcard vouchers so they're worth a lot more to me than the nectar ones I was getting with EDF.
I've sent EDF an email requesting I remain on the old prices while the switch takes place and pointing out I have made this request within the 14 working days detailed in the price increase letter. Is email the best way to do this or should I send them a letter? It's just that I got an automated response saying they'll contact me within 10 working days and that seems a long time to wait for confirmation.

Another defector fron EDF to EON.
I've been for them for years, on version 1 of their online tariff. Its was always fairly competitive. Not any longer. I gave them the ultimatum to change me to Version 5 of their tariff (worked out about the same as EON) or I was going to switch . The computer said 'no'! Seems like lousy business sense on their behalf..
However their loss is my gain (plus the extra cashback for switching of course....)... :j0 -

As you have informed that you will be changing suppliers I have noted the account that the prices remain the same.0 -
Glad I caught this thread, I've just switched over to eon from edf, set of chuffing deviants those edffers, I like how they say they only give you 28 days for the switch to take place fomr you notifying them of termination otherwise you'll have to pay the difference (changes from 1st feb) and they will continue billing, when I'm sure the last two switchovers I had took 28+ days, and even eon quote as saying it should take between 4-6 weeks, by my reckoning that's 28+ days.
I could rant all day but I'll just gain more grey hairs, it ain't worth it0 -
I was on the Edf V3 online Tariff. This has gone up by about 35% Gas and 29% Elecy. Just switched to Eon today.
The rate was good with Edf but it's way more expensive now. Savings should be around £ 150 quid a year.0 -
Hi Everyone,
Just to say I got my gas bill in this morning and included with it was a very nice letter informing me of 'Great news For Monthly DD Customers'. Now that they've put up the prices by nearly 30% they're giving me a magnificent annual discount of £16.80 :rotfl: No mention of a reason why though
I've already initiated my swap to Eon but I just had to laugh at their ploy to try and get people who may think of switching to stay by offering them the DD discout those on the standard tariff get. By my reckoning if I'd stayed with EDF my annual bill would have gone up by £250 annually and they're offering £16.80!! I just hope nobody falls for it.
Regards
