This was a deal that was around in September last year, may be worth giving them a call to see what they will offer now to keep you as a customer.

If you are with edf energy you can probably get a better deal without switching, but they won't tell you unless you ask them.

    1 Phone them free on 0800 0969696
2 Press the option number for changing supplier (you will get straight through to a person!)
3 Tell them you are thinking of switching and ask if they have a better tariff. (have your current bill handy)
4 They will offer you a better rate till next September called the "price saver tariff). It has no lock in or penalty for leaving early. Could be for gas, or electricity, or combined.

    I too have dual fuel.

New tariff offered is 3.2p per unit (compared with old one of 3.456) up to about 1450 units, then 2.02 (2.174) for gas.

    For elec. 12.61 (13.4) and then 7.91 (8.32)

You need to compare your own, I suppose.

    Gas first 1465 Units 3.227 then 2.002

    Elec First 225 Units 12.47 then 7.50

    Valid Until 1st October 2008

    Virus,

    Thanks for this!!

Just phoned them and spoke to a chap, I also looked at their leaflet that was sent to me with a recent bill and quoted the figures of their and said why were my figures not near to figures quoted on the example bill.

The example Bill showed the Electricity as first 227 at 13.25p then 7.88.

I was being charged fist 1465 at 18.10p then 8.68p

He advised that I was on the cheapest tariff already.

I then asked him what about the price saver tariff and he said he would have a look. He said oh that cheaper and said he woul transfer me onto that tariff straight away.cid:image001.gif@01C7EFEE.86783BF0

    My New Tariff
    Gas first 1465 3.227 then 2.002

    Elec First 225 12.47 then 7.50

    Valid Until 1st October 2008

Did anyone try this to see if they will still do something near this tariff?

That's it job done transferring to E-ON and Quidco has tracked, despite a promise from EDF they would check with a senior manager regarding switch from V3 to V5 and phone me back it never happened, enough is enough.I'm amazed at their friendly could not care less attitude at loosing a customer, no attempt made to try and retain me, tariff held at pre increase rates until transfer takes place.
  • Well isnt "money saving expert brilliant, got the question get the answer.
and most of all " if you do not ask you do not get"

v5 with EDF is only for new addresses, but after my "asking" did manage to get v5 until September of next year, went to changing suppliers on telephone option and "asked and asked again" and finally asked again-NICELY

    Got v5-- 9.60p for 1st 225 units for electricity
    new price 13.06
    saving of 26.5%
5.86 units for rest units reduced from 8.35p
    saving of 30%

    Gas got 3.45p when new increase was 3.843p on 1st 1465 kw/h
    saving of 11%
gas rest @ 2.34p new increase was 2.416
    saving of 3%

Now my present monthly joint elec/gas bill is £100 at least month so perhaps this might have swayed it

I suppose they might in the nearish future once they have sucked us all in...but then I could go back to EDF and V5 online!! Apparently that would be fine, can't switch directly as an existing customer.
The other alternative is Atlantic, but I know they haven't announced any increases at all yet...next month I think?
    Any thoughts anyone, gratefully received

SSE Group, (this is Atlantic, Scottish Hydro Electric, Swalec and Southern + a couple of minors) have announced that they will not increase prices until at least BST.

I told them as soon as I got the increase letter on the 8th February that I was cancelling so they said that they would hold the prices until the change, but as I was due to send them a reading I sent it monday, got my account updated today and the new prices had been chatrged for a significant number of units. I rang them and they said they would only charge me the increase until the 8th when I informed them of my intended cancellation. I objected to this and insisted as I was not told of the increase until the 8th that I did not see how they had the nerve to charge me from the 1st of the month. I told them I should have had the opportunity to cancel before the increase started, eventually they gave in and said the new bills would be cancelled and I will be charged the old prices until my final reading.
  • I just called EDF, told them I'm going to leave unless they can offer me a better tarrif, but no luck. I tried mentioning the Price Saver tarrif, but still no luck.

The adviser even suggested to me that the only way I could get one of their other tarriffs is to leave them, then come back ! Ridiculous !

So now I have 2 choices: either gas and elec with E-On online 5 which would save me £151 compared to my EDF tarriff, ....or....

I could get my elec via E-on online 5, and my gas from Spark. Doing it this way saves me just over £200, however there is a catch, because it includes a discount that Spark only pay if you stay with them for 12 months.

It is a difficult one to weigh up - I wonder whether Spark will remain competetive for the next 12 months or whether they will draw everyone in only to whack up their prices ?
