Smacked handies naughty girls ! Was the 'policing' really called for ?
My thought exactly!!!!!!
My view of shabby chic I'm afraid doesn't include many flower prints as I'm more of a stripe and check person, if you know what I mean. But I love painted fiurniture but unfortunately OH sees it as cheap. I won in the kitchen but don't think I'll win anywhere else in the house. The compromise has been waxed dark pine.We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -

I think a request to stay on topic was not unreasonable. I'll quote the rule concerned, in full, below.

Thanks. I like your ideas. Only problem is that the tiles rather dominate in the room. Has anyone painted tiles before?
There is already tongue and groove at the side of the bath and I have been intending to paint it white or cream.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Photos of the bathroom are here0 -
Vivw The way you describe your 'style' reminds me of New England/ Shaker/ Scandinavian perhaps more than 'English Country cottage'. But to me part of the beauty of 'Shabby Chic' is that we can adapt and adopt it to suit our own taste and sense of style.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. I was rummaging through my cupboard today and it's amazing what you find that you forgot you had. Years ago I bought 2 old single eiderdowns and unpicked the material from the upper ( a hellish job I remember) and threw the rest away. It's like a silky feel material but not silk and I washed it without any bad effects. I will have to try and find a use for them. Thats the beauty of hiding things away, you get a surprise when you find them again;)0

If you do paint the tiles then make sure you follow the instructions to the letter. It's alot of prep as the tiles have to be spotless. We started off well but got bit lazy towards the end.Luckily that was behind the toilet, so hard to see, but the paint didn't come off easily where we hadn't scrubbed so hard!
Thanks for that. What sort of paint did you use? I looked at tile paint about 5 yrs ago and the preparation did put me off, esp since I'm very short and I'd find some parts hard to reach. Perhaps I'd better just get on with it.......has anyone else tried painting tiles? We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -

vintagepleasure wrote: »You could use it to patch up another eiderdown.Cath Kidston shows something similar in one of her books. That's why I have about 6 bargain eiderdowns sitting on top of the wardrobe waiting to be patched.I wonder if I'll ever find the time?!
Oh gosh, whatever I use it for I will have to get someone to do it, I am not the least bit clever that way. I think it might be more suited to cushion covers. I love to see eider downs on beds, but I am looking for a quilted bedspread to pull over my duvet and cover the sides of the bed. Something that will fit into the washing machine too;)0 -
I used the International tile paint on my kitchen tiles - no preparation needed - then added transfers. It was very successful
