I used the International tile paint on my kitchen tiles - no preparation needed - then added transfers. It was very successful :)

Thanks......it was you saying before that there wasn't a lot of preparation, that has made me think that perhaps the paints have changed over the years. Will need to take a look in Homebase or B & Q. Can you remind me where you bought the tranfers from? I also have some kitchen tiles to do

I picked up an idea card from B & Q tonight bought paint and paint stripper which was a mousse and was only £3 a can rather than £7 a can.

I looked at the plasti-kote website and found what they call a retro kitchen but could be classed as shabby chic. Even down to enamel tins ;) and a chalk board.

    Even has pink kitchen chairs.

    Enjoy

Hi Viv - I got the transfers from Wilkinsons (sometimes known as Wilko's). Also, I used a white grout pen (think that was also from the International range) to restore the grout lines.
The paint sets diamond hard, and doesn't chip or flake.

Remember you are thinking of painting a bathroom.Kitchen don't have as much steam in them.Bathroom tiles build up much more detergent residue and also mildew residue.I know that paints change over the years so I'm not saying don't do it.We had great results.I just didn't want you putting in all the effort for the paint to flake etc later.

Oh gosh, whatever I use it for I will have to get someone to do it, I am not the least bit clever that way. I think it might be more suited to cushion covers. I love to see eider downs on beds, but I am looking for a quilted bedspread to pull over my duvet and cover the sides of the bed. Something that will fit into the washing machine too;)
Just out of interest did you know that you can machine wash and dry feather eiderdowns? You have to transfer from washer to drier quickly so as not to get brown stains from the feathers. Aslong as there are no tears for the feathers to escape out of.It smells horrible though while they are in the drier! I do it with cheap charity shop eiderdowns. They always look so much better

Thanks for the warning and I think you may be right about bathrooms in daily use. That bathroom is only used for visitors, so doesn't suffer the usual wear and tear of a bathroom in daily use.

  • Evening all! I'm absolutely loving this thread. I received a Farrow & Ball catalogue in the post at the weekend and have found the perfect colour for my kitchen cabinets...except I'm not sure which colour it is!

Does anyone know what colour this is please? It's photographed on their oil eggshell range

I think you might have to write to F&B for that information. They have such a variation of white's and creams, it would be nigh on impossible to tell the colour just from a picture. Looks gorgeous though doesn't it?
