haribo----love it, love it, love it.
I especially like your shutters and your real fire :j
Love the coal fire. We had to take ours out a couple of years ago and put a gas one in. Our chimney used to smoke when the wind was in a certain direction and the soot used to belch down into the living room. We do miss it though and have been tempted to put it back in and just light it sometimes.
You can't beat just sitting staring into a coal fire on a cold day while watching an old black and white film on the telly.0 -

The shutters were a real bargain. :money: We priced up real shutters which were a fortune as it's a huge window and we couldn't afford them. I spotted some old louvered doors in our local charity shop which were selling for 50p. By a stroke of luck they fitted the window and only an inch had to be shaved off the middle ones. OH fixed a baton down the sides to keep them in place and we can slide them out if we need to. As the windows are so low we had the problem of people seeing in but I didn't want blinds to block the light or the view and shutters on the lower half solved the problem.0 -

Hi HariboJunkie
Love the pictures of your home. I'd just like to ask about the blackboard in your kitchen. Was that a junk shop find or did you make it?

haribo- what is the colour of the paint in your sitting room and also the sitting area by your kitchen
im looking to paint my morning room which is quite dark so im thinking perhaps a brighter colour other than cream to give it a bit more light, i like the look of the yellow tones!
i cant believe the shutters started off as louvre doors.. its unbelieveable they look so good.. and v expensive
i might get my h to have a go at making some for our window.. we live at the front of the house and people can see in to but i dont want full blinds ..0 -

Just went back to look at the shutters. They look really good. Some people just have a flair for these things, I wish I were one of them, I tend to steal ideasand there are plenty on here at the moment. :j

My granny had a singer sewing machine like yours, and I've been on the lookout for one for yonks, wish I could find one! (they do side tables here, with an authentic trestle bottom from a singer machine and a glass top - but they charge about 300 squid for them and they are no way as nice as the real thing).
I got one for £10 from a local charity shop!!!!!!!!!! AND it works!!! IT has the original manual and the original little box full of the original fittings as well.. love it.. it has a plant on top of it at the moment.. but I might have almost killed that!!
Haribo.. the lamp at the bottom of your stairs.. I have the exact one in a tan colour in my front room!!
We are going to fill our fireplace with logs like you have your log pile.. they look great don't they?LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I love this thread, it's given me so many ideas for my kitchen
last year we had a conservatory built directly off the kitchen and also knocked through to the dining room, so now we have one enormous room
my kitchen units are very similar to haribosand a lot of the things I've bought are similar too
I wanted to get electrical goods to fit in and bought
this microwave in cream
this fridge/freezer
and this toaster
