Haribo what a lovely home you have. What gorgeous taste. I was a bit disappointed though;) I was expecting you to include your little gingham jam toppers. :D

Aussie, If you look carefully enough you'll find them. :D

Haribo, your house is absoloutely gorgeous!

I totally want your tongue and groove kitchen (I'd have tongue and groove in every room if I could..)!

My granny had a singer sewing machine like yours, and I've been on the lookout for one for yonks, wish I could find one! (they do side tables here, with an authentic trestle bottom from a singer machine and a glass top - but they charge about 300 squid for them and they are no way as nice as the real thing).

    Hello again :hello:

I'm still following the thread and getting addicted to all the blogs!!

I had an unexpected day off today and made some bits I've been meaning to do for ages. :o

    HERE, HERE and HERE. ;)

As I said before I think it's only my kitchen which falls into the Shabby Chic description. I've been collecting antiques for years and then started on advertising signs and tins about 10 years ago. There are a few new bits but most of the stuff is rescued from dumps and junk shops. :money:

Hopefully this link to my album will work. (I've been loading pictures all night )

Hey Haribo, I've just looked through all the pictures as a slideshow, you have quite an eye for items and where to put them, it looks lovely. It makes me long all the more for my new life in my new house to begin .... eeeeeek.

The items on the links, blackboard, heart board ... what colour is the paint you've used as I love it. Also can you tell us the make.

Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Haribo what a splendid idea to use clothes pegs instead of hooks for the tea towels!! Am going to copy that immediately if you don't mind. Question though, do they stay OK like that or do you have to replace them from time to time? Clothes pegs are not always that sturdy and sometimes disintegrate...

  • China town - I paint anything, I never use primer but I always sand everything first, only lightly & then with fine wet & dry sandpaper after the first coat. I always use an oil based egshell (farrow & ball and yes it is definately worth the extra ££ + you save on primer/undercoat) I have tried everyshort cut going & every kind of paint.....this has given the best results. It may still chip & wear but it adds to the aged look! Hope this helps...rx

Farrow and Ball eggshell is definitely good as it's oil based but I would always use a undercoat primer just to give it a key.Dulux do a great waterbased primer and undercoat in one that dries quickly. It really does make a difference and it saves a coat of the more expensive eggshell. If you want to make the finished piece look aged then you can heavily sand back in places. If you don't undercoat then the eggshell can end up chipping off really easily. It depends how 'shabby' you want to go.I like to control it a bit!!
  • HB fab photos! What a gorgeous house you've got. Thanks for sharing :)
