I've trawled through the posts to find who posted the link to 'Down to Earth' because I want to thank them.

At the moment we are preparing to put the house on the market and have done a lot of work to make it look nice, so I don't want to start making stuff that might be messy and require lots of things to store. I'll have to wait until life has settled down, but I think it is one of the best, if not the best, site to give info on cleaning and frugal living. Most of the other sites I've seen are the fundamentalist Christian sites and can be difficult to stomach.

However, there are some things on there I can use straight away. Anyway, thanks! :T

Actually I think it was me :D who posted it first a while ago on a thread about good websites or blogs.

One thing you do have to remember is that she has just recently (maybe a few years) just converted to Old Style. Obviously she's embraced it. On the other hand there are some on here in there early 20's that do frugal living. I wish I had it that together at their age. I find them inspirational. :T

Oh you all seem so handy and able to make things, I do envy your talents.

lol Maypole I just wanted to say please don't confuse enthusiasm with talent lol you haven't seen my efforts ;) I have a sewing machine & the only thing I have made with it so far has been 3 baby carriers for dolls, I wouldn't dare make them for real babies laughing-smiley-014.gif, I'm always willing to give something a try though.

Has anyone managed to get the link to the apron open? I downloaded the pdf file & it says its damaged and cannot be repaired. Would there be any other way of accessing it? so gutted I really fancied trying it. I'll have to attempt a different pattern instead.

Jinny you are a star :D a free pattern is even better. I'll give it a go in some cheap fabric before spending money on the oilcloth. I love the apron made from 2 teatowels too. Brilliant. I have a feeling I won't be short on aprons now lol. Lots to practice :D

If you recycle old fabric to practice on, you can probably get some for free if you've none lying around. I volunteer in a charity shop and some people donate stuff which isn't in a fit state to sell but would be suitable for making things like aprons, so maybe charity hops near you could let you have some for a small donation, or you could ask on Freecycle.

I am happy to print it for you and post it to you if that would help - it works fine on mine?

Been out to look at the old pine dresser in OH's bosses shop.............it really is lovely and now I desparately want it !!!!! Trouble is the depth of the base .........27 inches is quite deep..............I've measured our doorways and it''ll go in but only just.................not sure what OH will say as he's out today. It would give a whole new look to the kitchen..............I've already mentally got stuff on the shelves.......................lol
