Hi everyone,
As this is such a popular thread I have split off some of the off topic posts and added them to today's daily thread. That way we can keep this one on topic so that people can find the information on shabby chic more easily.

Love the pictures of your home. I'd just like to ask about the blackboard in your kitchen. Was that a junk shop find or did you make it?
Its just the type of thing we are looking for (sorry for knicking your ideas!)
The blackboard is homemade. OH cut me an offcut of MDF and painted it with blackboard paint. I was going to frame it but I found an old grotty pinboard in the loft, turned it round and painted the background in Antique white and glued the mdf to it. The frame can then be painted however you like.
Charleybabes.... The Kitchen is painted Primrose Yellow by Dulux and the living room is Georgian Straw from Dulux's Heritage Range.0 -

Hi charleybabes,
I was staying with Haribo a couple of weeks ago and asked her the same question so I can answer that one.
The kitchen is primrose yellow by Dulux and the living room is also by Dulux from the Heritage range...georgian straw.
Pink
Edit: ooops Haribo didn't realised you'd managed to get online, so I cross posted with you.0 -
I got one for £10 from a local charity shop!!!!!!!!!! AND it works!!! IT has the original manual and the original little box full of the original fittings as well.. love it.. it has a plant on top of it at the moment.. but I might have almost killed that!!
Haribo.. the lamp at the bottom of your stairs.. I have the exact one in a tan colour in my front room!!
We are going to fill our fireplace with logs like you have your log pile.. they look great don't they?
My Singer still works too and has all the original bits and instruction book which is dated 1925. They really looked after stuff in those days. I'd be hard pushed to find most of my household manuals.0 -

I made one for my kitchen by painting a sheet of plywood with matt black paint. It cost about £10 and is handy for writing the kids spelling words on and for leaving them jobs to do!http://www.flickr.com/photos/vintage_pleasure/2168660440/in/set-72057594079034198/0 -

Has anyone seen a jug in this style but in pale green?

Ive searched high and low but have only found them in cream, pink or pale blue. The only green enamel jug I can find is this one:

Id be ever grateful if someone has seen the first style in green somewhere.0 -

When my children were younger, leaving a note with jobs for them to do, seemed more effective than just asking them to do something. Maybe a note is harder to ignore than mam's voice0
