I do like yours Mary it is lovely. I love knitting baby things what ever they are. Will do a few hats too this weekend for the SCBU.
Thanks Maggie.
I love top down garments as there is no sewing up :rotfl: I don't have a top down matinee pattern so had to bite the bullet with this one  it took almost as long to sew in the sleeves as it did to knit them
One giraffe down one more to go! then I will be knitting another one of these...... http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/linnie
I will get my socks done but need to finish of Missy H's first and that means ordering some contrast for her toes as I'm short of the main colour

Hi ladies, may I join you please, probably more as a reader than doing too much knitting at first:(
Waves to a couple of people I bump into on MSE from time to time, Mrs MP and Mrs Hinge:wave:
Having some tests to find why my joints are so painful, but need to start knitting just a little a day to get my fingers working. I have been a knitter on and off for 50 years, but lost mojo somewhat and have loads of UFO's that need digging out and finishing or frogging.
When I was leading up to retirement, thinking I might not have the cash for nice yarn I squirreled away a stash of beautiful wools bought at bargain prices, unless I really get going again it really is a SABLE:eek: No children of any age to knit for sadly, teens and twenties all wanting what is "in". I go to a great K&N, and have a lovely time, but a lot of them are really experienced technical knitters and I feel rather overwhelmed sometimes. One thing that I need to do urgently is learn mattress stitch as it is de rigour to use this for finishing, anything of a lesser standard is frowned upon, but not in a nasty way:D:D
Please be gentle with me and I will try and motivate myself:oThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Welcome maddiemay! Fingers crossed that easing back into knitting works for you and your joints.
I've done some technical projects myself (beaded lace shawls and the like), but sometimes it's a relief to return to simple stockinette/garter stitch and not have to think about what I'm doing.0 -

I knit to keep my hands going as they are very bendy and become deconditioned very easily! I've found circular needles to be a godsend for me and they help take some of the strain of my hands and wrists.
Matteress stitch...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ7KEGUTlJM this taught me and it has transformed my sewing up!
Your Yarn stash sounds amazing, I'm in a bid to clear the UFO's and WIP and clear my lovely stash too
Lovely to see you Maddie, Enjoy your knitting!

Mrs H, thanks for the link, I will make a couple of squares and then I can practice after watching it (a few times probably LOL)
A couple of years ago I bought 2 skeins of this yarn to knit a cowl, I didn't have my brain in gear and didn't realise that the stitch pattern, number of stitches etc that I was given with the yarn were for something else, it was huge, so I frogged it and stowed it away in the wardrobe:(, have spent hours this evening trying to find pattern for similar gauge so I can resurrect it:) Found a couple of possibilities so far:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Giraffe number 2 now has a head, body and one ear. It will remain like that until wednesday now as I want to knit! I cast on the top down newborn cardi I linked earlier and have just put it down having knitted the yoke and divided of the sleeves. No more tonight I'm off to bed!
I'm taking missy H to try out a new knit and knatter group tomorrow, my monday night one finished too late and the others I go to are in school hours. At this rate I will have one for every day of the week soon :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi everyone,
I have finally taken photos of the two scarves I've just finished, the plum coloured one is for myself and the black/grey one is for a present.

I am now knitting a bright pink cardi for dgd and should finish it tomorrow, hopefully.
I was at the car boot this morning and found 400g of jade mohair for £1.50 - very happy with that. I cannot wear mohair next to my skin as it is too itchy so I will make a waistcoat with it.
Happy knitting xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)
