Hi everyone, I finished knitting the scarf but not very happy with it. It's too bumffly - my word for too stiff, not soft enough and not pliable enough when folded over. It was chunky yarn and knitted on size 6 needles. Don't know whether to re-knit it on size 10 needles so would be a lot looser. Or, just make it shorter so it just crosses under neck and is worn under jacket. Decisions decisions !!!

I love those little baby cardies you've been knitting Mary. Is the pattern on Ravelry as I would like to knit it for a baby boy as I have got plenty pink in stock.

I sewed the buttons on jacket for dgs for his first birthday in June.
I have attached a link below. I am now knitting a DK slip over in the same colour for dgs as well.

    Happy knitting xx

    Beautiful work Plum!

That's a shame about the scarf, all my chunky scarves have been done on 10mm, they knit up really quickly and feel soft too. If your not happy with it I would frog it and do it on 10's :o

The side fastening cardi is http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/puerperium-cardigan and comes with 3 options for sleeves. I love knitting it as it's worked top down with no sewing up :rotfl:

I have synned  last night I lost the sock knitting urge as I'm sure I will run out of yarn before I finishing them, it will be very tight and nothing short of a miracle if I don't..... so I put them down in annoyance and cast on this.....http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/a-simple-baby-pullover :rotfl:

Thanks Mary, I have saved the Ravelry pattern for the new baby cardigan. I've never knitted anything top down before so that will be a new experience for me 😃.
I will rip the scarf out but will not re-knit it till later in the year.
We've had some sun today so I don't feel like knitting a scarf LOL.

    Happy knitting everyone xx

I've just done the puerperium cardigan in white sparkle yarn with long sleeves. It just has far too many buttons.. I'm adding a few 'fake' ones rather than entirely buttoned.

:rotfl:I think on the last one I made I skipped the last few buttons and had it "open" from the armpit down! White sparkly Yarn sounds lovely..... do you have a photo please?

Knit and knatter tonight, I finished the cardi I started yesterday and carried on with the sock I'm making, I think I need to find some contrasting colour for the toes ;)

Knitting and knattering again tomorrow so tonight I will cast on another Puerperium to take with me!

    Hi everyone

I am a knitter, well I do knitting and go to a knitting group. I haven't looked on this thread before and apologise for not reading it all but have a couple of questions.

Has anyone blocked out their pieces and steamed them? I have seen this on YouTube and thinking of doing it on the cardigan I have nearly finished. It is stocking stitch in the main, so curls up at the edges. I will knit a test piece first.

I knit mainly cardigans for my GD as that is what my daughter requires. The buttonholes, that is the space between is mainly guess work but this time I want to be a bit more precise, does anyone have any tips for getting the positions right?

Others may well have said this. I sometimes machine up my garments rather than hand stitch them, they turn out alright.

Hi, I knit button band first. I then stretch this slightly and sew on to cardi. I then place pins on this band showing where I want button holes. I then count the rows between these pins and when knitting the buttonhole band I make the buttonholes to match pinned area. Does this make sense? I'm not very great at explaining.

I only block when really necessary ie when edges curl. I do it by pinning garment on to a folded towel laid flat on the floor. I then spray the garment till it's really damp and leave it to dry naturally.
If this doesn't work I would then try steaming it. I'm always very careful when doing this as it can affect texture permanently if it's too hot.

    Hope this helps

Hi everyone, I started re-knitting the chunky scarf on size 10 needles tonight. What a difference - it's so soft. It shouldn't take long as it only has 27 stitches.

I nearly finished sleeveless slipover for dgs but have reservations about it. I knitted rib around neck then joined shoulder seams but it doesn't look big enough for wee ones head to get through .
So I am not doing anymore until I can check fit when I next see him. Hopefully I don't have to rib it back.

I've not decided what to do after the scarf, keep saying I'm going to knit a cardi for myself then start a project for one of the grandchildren or presents. We will see

Happy knitting on this wild and windy Saturday night xx

 I'm please that your scarf is working well on 10's Plum!

I haven't done much knitting recently, my hands have been too sore. I've sewn on buttons to completed items.... a orange/red 100% merino pure wool baby jumper.... and a few grandad cardis I finished earlier in the month.

I have a mustard yellow pueriperium cardi on the go with 8 rows of the last sleeve to do, will finish that today and make a matching hat. I have 1 giraffe left to crochet too but in need of some stuffing first!

wool stash is looking rather bare  however i have 20 100gmballs of 3ply white baby wool.... what one earth was I thinking when I bought all that?! :rotfl:

  • The pictures a bit small but you can just about make out all the detail on it. It's the first throw from "The Art Of Knitting" magazine. I cancelled after getting the bits for the first throw, then regretted it so I resubscribed and am now working on the 1st throw again! I gave the first one to my mum as a gift and gave the magazines to my mother-in-law! (Waste of money I know but I want the 2nd throw!).

:( is there ANY chance at all you still have the patterns of access to the patterns for the first throw?? I'm half way through it and can't find them anywhere online!! I'm desperate. Is here any way you could copy them for me or I would buy them off you. I really love this throw and would love to finish it!!!!
