I finished my little grandad newborn cardi, the photo doesn't really show the blue/red flecks in the brown yarn. Just needs some buttons!

I'm knitting socks now...... tried the 2 at a time and failed miserably! i will just have to hope my "finishing of a project before starting a new one" motivation stops "second sock syndrome!" :rotfl:

I'm not sure if this the right place for my query.

I have a largish bag of dog hair, collected over the years from 2 collie type dogs. It would fill a pillow case.

Does anyone know of a place in the UK where I could get it spun into, say, a scarf or something?

(I've done a google search, but it's not been very helpful.)

Just done a quick google search Pyxis, is this the sort of thing you mean? I find a few tutorials claiming to instruct you how to turn it into yarn yourself but not sure how good they were.

    Oh thanks, Mrs. Moneypenny!

Yes, I saw that one, but it's in the States.
There was one in the UK but she only does toys and cushions, and I would really like an item of clothing to wear, even if only a scarf.

I wouldn't dream of trying to turn it into yarn myself! (Don't ask! It'd take too long to explain!)

I collected the hair over about 20 years, from two dogs, and the last one died six years ago, so I must either do something with it or get rid. It'd be a shame to get rid after all this time.
I'd love to wear them as a scarf! :D

    Not to worry!

Could you contact the uk one and ask her if she would quote you to either send you the wool to knit yourself or knit you a scarf

I could perhaps ask her to knit me a scarf or whatever the dog hair quantity will make, assuming she can knit clothes!

As for me, I haven't knitted since I was about thirteen and that was a total disaster - me and textiles are not a happy combination!n:D

I'll let you know what happens!

Well I've finished the baby bunting sleeping bag and DD loves it. I've also done a baby cardi just got the sleeves to stitche up and up a button on, it's a lovely pattern I've done several times for friends. The wool I collected on Wednesday was a beautiful teddy bear fluffy wool, King Cole sparkles in mango it is now a babies Pram/buggy blanket I've sent DD a photo of it and she's over the moon. I had bought it to do the Yeti hoodie from ravelry, but she said could I do a blanket instead because it looked so snuggly, I've managed to get a 27" square blanket so not bad for the money. x
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

Hi everyone, I finished knitting the scarf but not very happy with it. It's too bumffly - my word for too stiff, not soft enough and not pliable enough when folded over. It was chunky yarn and knitted on size 6 needles. Don't know whether to re-knit it on size 10 needles so would be a lot looser. Or, just make it shorter so it just crosses under neck and is worn under jacket. Decisions decisions !!!

I love those little baby cardies you've been knitting Mary. Is the pattern on Ravelry as I would like to knit it for a baby boy as I have got plenty pink in stock.

I sewed the buttons on jacket for dgs for his first birthday in June.
I have attached a link below. I am now knitting a DK slip over in the same colour for dgs as well.

    Happy knitting xx
