    Hi all :j

Many thanks for the helpful suggestions all - sadly I am the only knitter around so no-one else's brain I can pick! I am very stubborn tho so I am going to take some time out to sit down with no distractions & see if I can get to grips with it. Trouble is I only knit when I watch TV, so I need to be very sure what I'm doing !

Was heartened today when I went out with the rellies & Aunty was wearing her Christmas gift handwarmers, plus she told me she wore the last pair till they unravelled, so at least they are being appreciated....

  • Hi everyone, I finished the Aran jumper and beanie to put by for dgs' Xmas present. There was a small amount of wool left so I knitted a pair of mitts to match.

I have now started knitting an Aran weight lacy scarf and fingerless gloves. The wool is champagne coloured with a gold thread running through it. This was going to be for a Xmas present but just remembered a friend is 60 in March so this will be for her. I will also sew her a quilted bag for her iPad. As I have all the wool and material already it won't cost me anything just now.

    Happy knitting xx

I'm just back from knitting group, I've pulled out 1/3 of both fronts of Master H's hoodie and had to re-knit due to making a daft mistake! Both now finished and 1 sleeve ready to cast off..... 1 more sleeve and a hood to go! slow progress here as not felt like knitting :o

It's my monthly knitting group tomorrow so hoping to get alot more done..... if I don't knatter too much :rotfl:

  • Hi again, that's something else marked off the tick list. I have finished the lacy scarf and fingerless gloves.

I have just started a baby cardigan and beret ( Sirdar 1230), it's in a really soft baby wool and I'm not too keen on the way it knits, hope it looks ok when it's done.

I've had an idea........ A couple of years ago I knitted an Aran cardi for myself with a big fold over collar. I've never been too happy with it as it is a bit short and the collar is too big. I was thinking of taking it apart and ripping back the body to the armholes. Using the wool from the collar to lengthen the body and re-doing button and neck bands. I was nearly putting it in CS bag then had this brilliant idea. Might not be thinking this once I start ripping it back :rotfl:

I've been really slack and not touched my knitting since Tuesday  I went out dancing last night instead :rotfl: my achey legs tell me I will be snuggling up on the sofa knitting tonight :D

I have nearly finished Master H's aran hoodie and I'm half way through a prem baby cardi for the xmas gift bag stash.....
    other wip:

    • knitted cable baby blanket (sirdar bamboo) beautiful wool but it's in baby poo yellow  and the baby it was started for is now 3 :o May as well frog it!
    • double bed sized ripple crochet blanket
    • crochet giraffe
I'm aiming to have no more then 2 things on the go so slowly ticking things of my list!

Along with lots of prem hats/cardis I have a few pairs of socks on my waiting list and a tank top for master H!

Any ideas on how to use 500gms of baby poo yellow sirdar bamboo will be gratefully recieved :rotfl:

Hi everyone, well I've finished yellow baby cardigan but not as planned. The wool was just too fine and soft so I changed design, doubled the yarn and knitted an Aran weight raglan cardigan with a collar. There was not enough yarn left to knit the beret so I knitted a moss stitch hairband. I added a knitted flower to the cardigan to take away the plainness and also added the same flower to the hairband. I copied the hairband idea from Pinterest but I'm going to join the bands with Velcro so it is adjustable and doesn't stretch too much.

Last night I started a reversible cable scarf with the chunky yarn, that matches hat and gloves given to DIL for Xmas. After knitting one ball I realised I would not have enough yarn as the cables were using too much wool. I have searched Ravelry and found a pattern for one with rib and lace panels. Instead of 42 stitches it's only 27sts so will have enough do knit the scarf.

I unraveled the Aran cardigan that I had knitted but never wore as it was too short and the collar was too large. It took hours to rip back and I'm fed up looking at it. I've hidden it away in my stash where it will stay for possible years till I feel like knitting it again :rotfl:

    Happy knitting xx

PS Mary, with a 8 month old grandson still being breast fed I don't really want to think about baby yellow poo LOL

Well done Plum.... you have been busy!!

I have finished Master H's hoodie and it looks fantastic on him!! Have just enough of the wool left to pick up and add and extra 1"-1.5" to the ribbing at the bottom in a few months, everywhere else has growing room but he is tall so it is just long enough now....... would do it now but Like you Plum Im sick of the sight of it :o

Last night I picked up a prem baby cardi I started before xmas and worked on that lastnight, It is worked top down all in one piece, 1 sleeve to finish and the ends to sew in, maybe 30minutes to complete so will do it this evening in front of call the midwife!

Baby poo yellow blanket will remain and will be finished off as it is 2/3rds done, I plan to donate it to the local hospital Im sure they can use it as it will be adult lap blanket size. Decided the thought of re-knitting it was even more unbareable then finishing it off :rotfl:

Today Im crocheting! I have a very old crocheted lace shawl pattern that has chicks (or possibly ducks) in the border that I started in the summer that needs finishing for my friend.... the baby it is for arrived over new year :o so I am abit behind.

The scarf for Dil sounds lovely Plum!

    Productive evening in all!

I have done 1.5hours of crocheting on the blinking shawl, finished of the prem baby cardi and does 16 rows on the poo blanket..... not bad considering it has 168st per row!

Mr H supplied the cuppas on tap and it kept me away from the biscuit tin which is always a bonus! :rotfl::rotfl:

  • Hi Mary, you did get a lot done - must have been the cuppas from
Mr H :rotfl: Slows you down when you've got to make your own :(

I have knitted 1 ball in the new lacy rib pattern for the scarf. I managed to get 12" from the one ball. I have 6 balls so plenty to finish a nice long scarf.

    Happy knitting xx
