I'm using up some of my stash by knitting 4 strands together on 8m needles, I'm knitting long strips about 10 inches wide and changing colour every 10 inches, then I'll sew all the strips together to make a blanket.
I'm also edging all my assorted crochet granny squares in grey and sewing them together for another blanket.Chin up, Titus out.0 -

I'm really bad for starting projects and not finishing them... at the minute I have on the go a cardigan for myself that I started when I was pregnant (my baby is now 7 months old and it nearly reaches the small of my back - I might finish it by the time she's 5!). It's a gorgeous soft grey and I know it'll be really cosy when it's done so hopefully I can do it justice.
I know exactly what you mean ! I started an aran jumper for myself when I was pregnant with my first child. I naively thought I'd be able to finish it while I was on maternity leave. I actually finished it when he was 23 ! I accidentally knit three sleeves as well so if I ever grow another arm..............I almost had a psychic boyfriend but he left me before we met.0 -

I started knitting again at the beginning of last year after not knitting for about 10 years+
I ended up starting from scratch with wool, patterns and knitting needles, found out I can get a pair of needles from my local charity shop for £1 a pair :money:
Can I just ask the sock knitters, do you use a circular needle when making socks? I've never used a circular needle before, but would love to make socks, might have to pay a visit to the charity shop again.
Just saw this thread when browsing, I would love to join in if you will have meI am trying to finish a Mad men cardigan (pattern on Ravelry) for myself at the minute, just got the neckband to do then sewing up. I remember now why I started knitting top down cardigans to avoid the sewing up but I really liked this pattern
Dustyblinds, I learned to knit socks by following the tutorial on Winwick mums blog

Although I have been knitting and crocheting for over 50 years I have never been able to get along with dpns. On the blog she uses a small circular needle so I gave it a go, she explains it very clearly step by step with lots of pictures. I am a bit addicted to knitting socks now
I use a Knit Pro symphonie 2.50mm needle in 25cm length and its brilliant. I use a 2.50 80cm to do the toe magic loop (lots of tutorials on you tube, very pink knits is a good one)0 -
I use mini circulars for socks as never got on with four dpns. It does help to have small hands for this method."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

to use up never ending stash last year, cotton on cones

I crocheted large squares using two strands and then linked them all by crocheting together in a bright red or purple. The grandchildren just loved these snuggly knee blankets. I bought the original yarn to make dishcloths

I gave everyone a few last year in their christmas bundles. They are very good and people wanted more. I made these doubled
Haven`t knitted much at all since christmas, been too busy still sorting. I want to do a lot more knitting and also to use my knitting belt one day but that is a whole new technique altogether
Re socks, I love wearing my hm socks, they give me a lovely level of padding and warmth around my feet, definitely worth making
lol, I confess to also having other stashes, like needles. I have karbonz, knitpro, chiaogoo wooden and steel ( these are very useful), lantern moon as well as the full set of my old original aero. I like long needles so I can tuck them under my arms. My dpns needles are in neat kits. I do like nice needles, even if I just look at them but there is nothing wrong with the very cheap dpns from china, I also have those and eventually they get shiny and easier to use
I knitted a dress for myself from poodle-like wool, when I was 15 and wore it at the school party. That was 53 years ago, crikey0 -
Just to say that wonderwool wales is on the weekend of 23/24 april. Woo hoo, I love that show0

I'm on the home stretch with DD's wrist warmers and hat, both wrist warmers finished and i'm a good 1/3rd of the way through the had. The colour way has knitted up lovely and I am rather envious that they are for her and not me

I have just got back into hand knitting after a huge gap since my two were little (now 30 and 28) I used a knitting machine for a while so it's probably about 30 years plus. I am about to become a grandma so I thought I would start with a christening shawl which I started 3 times, finally gave it to DD the other day and although it's not perfect I am quite pleased with it and she loves it. I have done a couple of little hats and a hooded jacket too...my problem is I can't resist buying wool/yarn and I have already got a drawer full...
Just seen a couple of people talking about sleeves a tip I use is knit both together on the same set of knitting needles ( separate balls of wool) so you get them exactly the same length etc..0
