It says "now taking inc sts into gst, inc 1 st at each end of next 7 rows"
Does this mean the increase stiches are in garter or do i continue in pattern (rib) i'm confused! By the way im knitting back section of a cardy with short capped sleeves.
Thanks Eh xx
I would guess garter. Is there a photo on the pattern which might give a clue ?Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I would think garter stitch too.
As Orkney said, do you have a picture of the cardigan to see if there is a change of stitch at that point?Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Thanks Orkneystar there is a pic but not of the back & its near the armhole so not clear. Will ask my friends mum on wed, dont want to do to unpick it all as my first knit for myself, baby clothes are much easier!

Hi there, I just popped in to look at all the lovely things you make.
I wonder if your pattern means to increase in the garter stitch of the rib? You know, how the rib has a 'knit' stitch and a 'purl' stitch - do you increase on the 'purl' stitch so it's less noticable?2025 Fashion on the ration

Hi there all
I am hoping to ask for your collective knowledge.
I had knit the basic stitch with my nna when I was say 10 - apaprt from that I haven't done any knitting soooo, based on that and the fact I would like to start knitting - it is going to be fun!
I would like to knit myself a long "house" jumper. I have a shop bought one which I wear every night after work but it is thread bare and I would love to start making my own things and for my kids too.
Do you have any advice as to where to start? I plan on starting in May to get it done for October!
Thanks in advanceDebt - CCV £3792
CCB £1383 (took a hit for a holiday)
Loan 1 £1787
Loan 2 £1683

Ravelry.com for patterns would be a good start (free to join and lots of patterns are free too, and downloadable).
Decide how often you will need to wash- can you be bothered to hand wash or do you want to chuck in in the machine?- this is a big influence on what yarn/fibre you choose (ranging from 100% wool to 100% acrylic and somewhere in between, also bamboos, cottons etc), as is budget (generally higher % wool yarns are more expensive).
Also how bored will you get? Thicker yarns knit up quicker, but then sometimes too thick a yarn doesn't have so nice a finish ?
Would you prefer to start on something small- eg scarf, to refresh your knitting brain, so you can make mistakes/learn from them on there, instead of jumper ?
How do you feel about sewing it all up ? You can get seam-free patterns nowadays.
OK, that is just some thoughts and no doubt others can add some more.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
