So yesterday I was in town doing a small top up shop, nipped to local charity shop and got a couple of bits, including two balls of wool for 50p each (and they are wool, 100% wool!).....here is what I made with them:
Was also a bit naughty and purchased one ball of yummy sock yarn from the new wool shop just across the street from the charity shop.

We went away last week and whilst we were away my sister asked if I has any spare needles and wool - she ended up making some really cute baby booties for her friends niece - will try and post pics when I get home

Hi everyone, I have read through quite a few pages on this thread and am now feeling inspired...:) You are all so talented! I would like to have a go at sock knitting. I have ordered some lovely 4 ply sock wool but i am not sure which type of double pointed knitting needles to buy. Which ones do you all use, or which do you recommend please? Do i buy a set of 4 or 5? There seems to be so many different types to choose from..bamboo..metal..plastic....also which brand do you recommend?
Many thanks.0 -

I now use circulars but when I used dpn's I preferred using the ones with the pointiest tips I could get- this tended to be metal/aluminium ones. The bamboo ones are nice and light but often, I found, to be blunter. Wooden ones are ok too, but I personally find the wood dries out my skin eventually (even my circular with wooden tips). HTH and all the best with sockies!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
