When knitting in the round, garter stitch is knit one round followed by purl one round, and stocking stitch is knit every round.

In your stitch pattern, I think this would mean that the odd rows would remain unchanged and the even rows would become

    p5 (k12 p3) repeat p2

but you'd have to be careful of the pattern at the start and end of the round - usually this is just something I do by sight.

    Hope this helps a bit

    Thanks for that :T

I wimped out in the end and found a pattern that was written in the round. All good practice as I've done cables and knitted in the round, but not both ;)

OP was asking about knitting in the round which is what my reply relates to not knitting on straight needles (in which your reply would certainly be correct :) )

Hello there, I have just discovered this and the crochet thread and my goodness I will spend a looong time looking through. I hope it is ask for help here ... my old home town's Police force are looking for help to start project for children involved with the Family Protection Unit. I saw that some people knit for charity and might be interested in helping a charity like this? ..
Those teddies will go to every young crime victim or witness that comes to the specialist investigators of the family protecton unit (FPU).
On current figures around 125 children will be interviewed by FPU officers a year. Most of them will be recounting – from as young as three years of age – harrowing evidence of serious sexual, physical or emotional abuse.
Anyone ready to help make the FPU bears can contact DI Barnes at Hereford central police station on 0300 3333000. They will provide a pattern

Have just gathered my various knitting projects together and realise I have 6 items on the go! Late New year Resolution - must finish something before starting something new! I keep a photographic record of my garden January to December each year and have decided to do the same for my finished knitting projects!

Very tempted to start some Granny squares from the crochet thread as I don't really crochet and these squares look fantastic. Certainly have plenty of yarn. Must keep focussed on one project at a time!

Finished this a couple of days ago, but it's so hard to get a picture as I think it needs to be seen on.

Have a look at Ravelry, you can browse lots of different patterns for everything you can think of, they tend to have difficulty ratings as well which is helpful.
How about a blanket or a plain jumper or cardigan?
