ICE Ballerina is also a similar yarn which I knitted with . Once again its widely availeble on ebay0 -
Hi everyone, knitting-newbie here just wanting to get some clarification on knitting-pattern-language if that's ok?
I'm in the process of making a little beanie hat for my imminent bump (39 weeks today...) and it's my first attempt at something shaped. The section of the pattern related to shaping the crown of the hat is written as (for example):
Row 1: K1, (k2tog, k4) 15 times, 76 sts.
Is the bit in brackets essentially the same as when they use an * before a sequence of stitches and then say rep from * to end? So I'm just to repeat the 'k2tog, k4' sequence 15 times, which would theoretically reduce my 91 stitches to 76, providing I do it right?
Thanks in advance!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
Yep, it's the same idea, the K2 tog will reduce it down it to 76 stitches.0

Thanks, I thought that would be it. It's just that the pattern uses the * to indicate other sequences to repeat, and I've not seen the brackets used before so just wanted to make sure I understood it right...:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -

Also I need it slightly smaller.Found some mods which say
replace the 3 stitch garter stitch panels at the sides with a single knit stitch slipped every other row
This is the stitch pattern
Row 1: k2, p3, (k12, p3)repto last two stitches, k2
Row 2: k5, (p12, k3)repto last two stitches, k2
Row 3: k2, p3, (k4,C8F,p3) repto last two stitches, k2
Row 4: k5, (p12, k3)repto last two stitches, k2
Row 5: k2, p3, (k12, p3)repto last two stitches, k2
Row 6: k5, (p12, k3)repto last two stitches, k2
Row 7: k2, p3, (C8B, k4, p3) repto last two stitches, k2
Row 8: k5, (p12, k3)repto last two stitches, k2
When knitting in the round, garter stitch is knit one round followed by purl one round, and stocking stitch is knit every round.
In your stitch pattern, I think this would mean that the odd rows would remain unchanged and the even rows would become
p5 (k12 p3) repeat p2
but you'd have to be careful of the pattern at the start and end of the round - usually this is just something I do by sight.
Hope this helps a bit0 -

No worries, it's lovely, I like the detail on it, it's very pretty.
