    Hi all:j

Thanks for the Knitpro feedback everyone - tried to multiquote you all but no success:mad: Yes it's the deluxe pretty wooden set in a case I was looking at originally (the Rose set?) - the money was supposed to be spent on something I normally wouldn't buy, so I thought that would be something nice that I'd look at & appreciate everytime I used it IYKWIM.

Furball - Haven't done socks on 4dpns as yet, only on 2 needles but I have loads of sock wool ready to go thanks to this thread :D So I thought the sock kit would go along with the circs, if in effect I more or less replace all my needles with Knitpro, I will have made a big Purchase and I definitely wouldn't have spent that amount of cash, esp all at one time!! Now trying to find a good deal, not seen anything so far...

Furball - if you are in Huddersfield I am very near you, I went to Bradford, first of all to Coldspring Mill at Cullingworth & then to Texere Yarns in Little Germany Bradford. If you need any more info LMK, they were both good in their own way LOL. I've never to any mills before, then I did 2 in 2 days:eek:
New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear

Hi all - good to see so much activity on this thread!

Looking for a bit of advice please. My son in law has asked me to knit him a jumper

    http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/plain-guernsey

Classic Guernsey style which he wants in navy. Problem is that he can't wear wool and I think that 100% cotton wouldn't hold its shape well. I have looked for a cotton / acrylic blend but all I can find in navy is Wendy Sirroco.
Has anyone ever used this please?

I can't find any locally to have a feel, so would have to order online.

My second problem is that the pattern he has chosen comes out HUGE as the smallest size is 40" and they allow 8" of ease. Poor lad is only a 38" chest so I'll have to modify or he'll be able to fit two of him inside!
Makes it hard to work out the yardage so I'll probably have to over order. Wish I could find a local stockist so that at least I can return any unused.

    Any advice appreciated.

Sashanut thankyou for the info, will have to check them out. Cuddles if you search ravelry without clicking the adult link see if some family patterns come up that go from a childs to an adults. If you haven't clicked adults then click childs and the teenage size link. If that doesn't work google it . Will have a look for you.

Hi cuddles, this pattern has different sizes, would you be able to knit this plain or just use it for the number of stitches to use to get the right size http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/85-24-pullover-in-karisma-superwash-and-alpaca
Looking at the pics there are quite a few gentlemen that don't look as if they are are 48" chests or even 40" and the jumper looks comfortable on them and not too big. If he wore it with a shirt underneath or a t.shirt i am sure it would be fine. HTH

That's great thanks, it's a flat blanket done on a circular needle just because there's so many stitches.
It's about 88cm wide so I suppose my only choice is 100cm length as 80cm may just be too short?

Thought I would just add the link - it's this blanket (although I have DK yarn in bits and bobs and am having some difficulty believing that I should be knitting it on a 6mm circular needle!) I'll just have to give it a try.

It looks lovely and snuggly! You'd probably get away with an 80cm circ as you can squish the stitches up but 100cm would be more comfortable to work with. If you're going to have to buy something whichever size you choose, I'd go for the 100cm - especially since you're using DK so the tension/dimensions may be different.

My buggy blankie in projects on Rav is Wendy Sorrento. Very nice to knit with and good stitch definition.

Have never done any felting. Doesn't it have to have wool content? Sorrento is 55%acrylic/45%cotton.

eta Can't you tell I've been poorly?! Yes I have squidged it, it's lovely. Now I realise you didn't want to "felt" it. Duh.

All this talk of knitting needles. I didn't know there was so many to choose from. The only ones I have are from 45 years ago that I slowly added to over some years but not bought any new ones for many years. Seems like I'm missing out :D
Anyway finished my patchwork knitted blanket for those chilly days but not chilly enough to put the fire on.
